First accident in my 33 years. Light rain. Cars in front of me stopped somewhat quickly. I stopped with a car length between me and truck in front of me. Guy behind me in the Chevy Tahoe had been following too close for a while, and I knew once I came to a stop that he wouldn't be able to. Watched the whole thing unfold in my rearview. Hate that feeling of being helpless. Having the receiver hitch in saved my tail though. Hard to tell in the pictures, but the bumper and hitch point downward now, and the frame seems to be bent slightly. Dent in tailgate that doesn't show up in the pics. Have an appointment to get it looked at by his adjuster tomorrow.

    enough to go over stuff
My truck is two months old. I got rear ended last night. My hitch ball was alittle bent that was it. The small sedan behind me needs a new bumper and hood. I took my truck to the shop just to have the frame and everthing looked at. They said it looks new. The $30 hitch saved me from dealing with insurance companies and getting a new bumper. Best 30 bucks ever spent. Time to by a new one.

Same thing happened to me last night. I stopped at a traffic crossing where some cops were directing traffic and the guy behind me didn't. The towing package receiver saved my butt!

Exactly why I just let tailgaters by... If they had been real douche bags, they get all six lights in their rear view.

Without the hitch draw bar installed, the bumper might be able to do its job.
