My next mod is gonna be a new head unit. I would like it to be all touch and preferably a pioneer. What models are good, based off the quality and price?

Anything from Pioneer's AVIC models. I love my AVIC F700BT, even thought I bought it almost 5 years ago. Still working just like the day I bought it, after being in 3 different vehicles.

EDIT: You shoulda checked it out at the meet tonight, hombre!

I just installed the Pioneer 3400BH, love it and it was below $400. It took me a weekend, but I installed it myself. DVD, HD radio, BT handsfree, and back up cam all for below $400!!!

Ya man Pioneers AVIC line-up is beyond SICK! But even at my price your looking at well over $700-900 depending on the model. They retail as high as $1500 IIRC. They have navi though, which you said you dont need. They one I mentioned to you (AVH-P4400BH) is navi capable. It retails for $400 add-on, I get it for little more than half off. But honestly if you have maps on your phone, no need for navi on the radio. I have an old AVIC-D2 from about 7 years ago. Been in many different vehicle. Has navi and all... the touch screen is going out but that can be replaced for less than $100. Other than that it works great. Just sitting in my closet now though.

Anyone on here will agree that Pioneer makes some of the best head units available. Alpine actually makes a better head unit, but they have a terrible UI (user interface) and look really plain. And they are more expensive for no reason, but Alpine's technology is insane! Some people prefer other brands such as Kenwood... I know kenwood makes a highly feature packed double din for a decent price, but I think personally they dont come close to comparing with the build or sound quality of Pioneer, and they look fugly IMO.

If you can afford the extra $100 for the 8400 like I have, get that. But if not, the 4400 is an awesome radio still. Hundreds of people on here run that radio and love it. Search... you'll see. The only difference is the 8400 has the following additional features:
-LED HD screen instead of LCD SD screen
-Detachable Face Plate (PITA to remove with our dash kits anyways, Ill show you what mean)
-Pioneer's "Mixtrax" feature, which is cool at first, but get annoying real quick. Kinda pointless for a car stereo. It just lets you adjust the BPM of your songs on the fly and it "auto-tune" mixes them for you. You can check that out too when you see mine.
-SD card slot (you can just use usb instead so its pointless)
-Windows Media Video playback capable (you'll never use it)
-2 USB ports instead of one (you have no use for 2 though)
-"Advanced" app-mode capable... nice feature if you have an iPhone, but not worth $100 IMO)
-Dual Zone Audio/Video (this is only if you have screens in the back such as a flip-down or headrest monitors and want to watch a different audio/video in the rear than in the front at the same time... pointless unless you have kids)

That is ALL the differences, and as you can see, it has some nice features, but nothing that is really needed, nor worth the extra money. You'll love the 4400, and I guarantee that for the price your gonna pay, you wont find a better unit out there right now.

I got a pioneer app radio 2 in July and love it. Works great with Rdio which is a pretty sweet app, there's a pandora app built in too but we in Canada don't get that. Overall I'm impressed with it.

I just got the AVH-P4400BH installed and I like it so far. I like the fact that it can connect to my iphone, which I just got as well. Allows you to surf the internet from your radio. Pretty cool feature, though may get old after awhile. I don't seem to have any problems with detaching the face plate. The sound quality is way better than stock. I plan on getting 2 7" screens, handheld with earphones, so my kids can watch movies in the back, while I still listen to the radio.
Overall I would suggest it. I got the radio, the Metra mounting kit, and the wire harness from a semi-local flea market for a total of $510.00. I'm happy with that price.

I also have the AVH-4400bh and I'm pretty happy with it. U can add navigation/back up cam etc but not needed if u have a smart phone and factory cam. Only downside its not detachable like the model above this, but owner of the car audio place I went to said the tabs to attach/detach on that model tends to break easily. Price on the Headunit was decent becuz he goes by what Amazon.com sells them for which is usually cheaper.

No bluetooth streaming with APPRadio 2, other than that and the fact that it won't work in its current state with my iphone 5 I really like it. :)

I could be wrong, but that looks like a Schoshe not a Metra. I have both and the Metra is lighter with texture like the cup holder.
    That photo looks smooth.

Oh, and I have a Kenwood DNX 6960. It's one of the best things I've done for my truck.

    Shawn.

I could be wrong to, it's kinda hard to tell. But just to let you know, metra now makes both the smooth and textured models. Go on their website and check it out
