RR View Mirror Swap to Gentex 341

Had garage door/sunglasses/maplight overhead console and the mounting bracket to hack up my reg cab headliner and do install but found something to change my mind on all that. Wanted the overhead mostly to get garage door opener out of center console like in the 05 AC. Maplights and cubby for glasses would have been plusses too. Then I found something that did that plus a coupla few things. Just scored and installed a Gentex 341 auto-dimming/maplight/compass/temp/homelink rr view mirror that has amber display to match dash. Came with wiring harness and temp probe wiring kit. Simple install. Works great. Love it. The sunglasses will just have to hang out in cubby in front of shifter. Here's a few pics of it..................






P.S. Nevermind the steering wheel lock, that and the clutch pedal lock are parts of my alarm. Yeah, overkill, whatever. Truck will be where I leave it. I'll even lock it to poles, or buildings or trees if I think it needs to be, lol. Got shit for that too.

Yeah, saw those too in my exploring................I wanted it all, minus the rr view cam. Was hard to find, especially in amber. Some of the auctions on ebay stated that color change was an option. I found the one I got and just went with it since it was already amber and all the features I wanted. This one has a new model that replaces the 341 but it was more money and no amber. Think it was the GENK60A

Gentex335S has 3.3" monitor & compass & is 499.00




GENK3345 has 3.3" monitor, compass & homelink but is about 650.00.

 

theres a guy that sells the 2012 mirrors here with the 3.5 in. screen and home link...i may grab that if not i was looking at the 2 you posted above

On a wiring note, used the rr window pwr fuse for switched pwr since reg cabs don't has rr windows. So the mirror didn't shut off until I opened the door to get out because of how it's wired to allow windows to be rolled up even tho key is shut off until the driver door is opened. Had me curious first time it happened, then remembered which pwr supply was used. I used the pwr door lock fuse for the constant since I also doesn't has pwr locks. Was convenient to have these unused circuits in the reg cab and just use add-a-circuit taps to avoid searching the wiring harness for somewhere to tap into. Still got fr window pwr fuse for another switched pwr source to run the 500ff's off of whenever I feel like doing more wiring and the HID conversion on those. Got all the parts and a case of procrastination to go with it, but no fear, lol................

 

Do you know if this would work on a 1st gen?

 

The mount on the windshield is as close to a vehicle specific part there is as long as you buy the wiring kit with whichever mirror you get. Probably a wedge mount on yours too. Other than that it is just running 2 pwr wires, ground wire & temp sensor wire. Temp sensor is only one required to go through firewall to get to front somewhere.
