Tinted out. Bull guard on front. Hitch step/bar on back. Aftermarket headlights.
I've always had Silverstar Ultra headlights in my trucks but I heard from a service manager at a toyota dealership, they burn hotter, than stock bulbs and could possibly melt parts of the headlight. This BS or what??? Has this happened to anyone???

idk of anyone having their housing burned from Silverstar but I think they usually only last about a year

They won't melt your headlights but they probably do burn hotter.

I have been running them since November of 2007 in both the headlights as well as fogs with no problems yet.

Is that the same bulbs since 2007? Are they much better than factory? I've used HID's b4 and liked them really well, but really don't have the money to get projectors for the HID's to work correctly without blinding someone, so wanting to go another route that's cost effective.

I had them in my 1st gen and they lasted 2-3 years. great lights and they are way better then stock IMO. Once the stock lights burn out in my second gen i will be replacing them with silverstars

Donahoe CO's, Deaver leaf paks, Lockright Locker, All Pro body armor ( sliders, front and rear bumpers ), All Pro under belly skids, Warn M8K w/Masterpull synthetic line, Dual Optima battery system, 4 ea LightForce Striker 170 offroad lights, 8 ea wired rock lights, and plenty more I'm sure
HO efficient bulbs tend to draw/require more current.

Because of this... some bulbs will have a shortened life.
and the oem light harness can get warm from the resistance.
That resistance can be less then friendly to HO bulbs.

best way to eliminate any issue...
is by adding a performance headlight harness
that draws directly off the battery.

there are several mfgr's out there...

    suvlights.com

    danielsternlighting.com

some others I can't remember off hand.

It could be home brewed as well...
if ya know what yer doing.

I have the suv light harness...
    I run HO 90/110 bulbs...
the bulbs are a recent install...
but the prior HO efficiency bulbs that were in there previous
were nearly 8 years old and still going.

Even with muh 90/110 watt bulbs...
the suv wiring harness does not get warm.

    I recommend the upgrade...

    even with standard oem bulbs...
the light harness will offer more light output (noticeable)
just due to it's better efficiency and lower resistance.

While they are considerably brighter than stock bulbs, they do hvae a very short life as a result. I had both of mine go out within 6 months in my truck. Before that, I had them last about a year in my old saturn I used to drive. Both time's I used latex gloves to put them in and wiped them down with alcohol to remove any oil/residue on the bulbs. For the price of them I don't think it's worth it. I'd rather spend my money on a retrofit kit and call it a day.

Yes, I lost a fog once when a car next to me flung a pile of snow and slush into the front and the bulb died. Changed them and they have been going ever since.

i've had good luck with the silverstar ultras. had them in my colorado for about 2 years, w/ a couple dozen trips each year at night w/ lights on ~4hrs, and then in mornings/evenings for 15min drive to work.
they burnt out not long after the 2 years, got another set and they were out in less than a year.
    got hids after that.

i have them in the tacoma and seem to get bright lighted a lot w/ low beams on. they are a nice improvement over stock though. no lift, only a grille guard on front, bruteforcefab rear bumper to replace stock bumper and curt hitch.

If you have some extra weight in the back either a canopy or a aftermarket bumper you probably want to re aim the lights down a bit.

I got flashed so many times with them haha. Sagging leaf springs + camper shell = pissed off oncoming drivers. I had to aim my driver side light down a bit and that fixed the problem.

i'll be adding firestone ride-rites so that should take care of that issue.
