Mine looked the same way out of the box. Figure if they get too bad later on I'll weld caps on the ends like avids and have them blasted then line x. Still wasn't a bad price and seemed sturdy enough fore and my kids.

How far down is the step? I have running boards currently but they're "tucked" so much that they don't really help getting into the truck (didn't need them before the lift).

    Not much.
Did anyone with a DCSB order these and have issues? I'm going to order a pair but wondering if the holes are spread differently on a 2012 versus 2005-11

No problems on my 2012 DCSB Sport. Mine are the 2". I had mine Linex'd and love them. I did have to buy a little longer bolts due to the coating, but everything lined up perfectly.

Like FatRabbit, I'm also curious how low the step drops? I got some running boards as a gift a few years back, but with the little bit of lift I have they are pretty much useless now.. Thinking about getting the Avid step tubes for Christmas to replace the old running boards

Just pay the extra 50 bucks for OEM Predator Steps. I've had them for over a year now and live in upstate NY. We see salt like a pitbull pissing on a flat rock. No rust issues yet...

    They're $329.99 now. But I found a coupon code for $15 off: save15

BTW how do these hold up against the elements. Any rusting? Have you guys already replaced them? I'm thinking about these or Avid's version. But rust is a big issue in Hawaii.

I bought a new set of black 2" Smitty Bilt/N-Fab steps off ebay for $180 shipped. Just got lucky I suppose...

Just buy the 2" black ones and have them Linex'd. I had mine done for $100 per side. It gives them a thicker look, clean up as good as new with the hose, and I'm thinking they should last forever. You will have to replace the supplied 1" bolts though with 1 1/4" for the extra thickness of the lining. I splurged and went all stainless. I couldn't be happier with them.
