Huh? I do think the Toyota Is a better vehicle. But I have never heard of excessive electrical problems with any Nissan, I am pretty sure he has already made his decision this is an old thread.

Forget both; buy a normal 4x4 with whatever options that you want. Then fix it up with mods; bc it would be cheaper that way. I think...

Im not going to make this a tq vs hp debate but if torque won races then formula one and all other types of races would use diesel engines instead of gas engines

My brother has an 06 frontier nismo, essentially a trd for nissan back then. Very solid imo. Nissan also has an extra inch of clearance that I believe is from the 265 75s. He has had no serious problems, electrical or otherwise. Not my Tacoma but a very solid midsized truck.

My best friend has a Pro 4X Fronty. 2011 I think. We get into it all the time. His Pro4X package doesnt have leather seats... Still It's a nice truck. The ride is very good. The sound system is nice as well. They crammed 265/75s into the wheel wells... Doesn't seem to be alot of room for flex. It's more like the TRD Sport really. Also he has the 2WD.

    Turning radius stinks though. :)

I taught him the ways of the derp last week... :D

OUCH.....the trucker must have been a bit helpless going..NNOOOOOOOO and no..I don't blame nissan for that..seems the truck goes onto the center area where he lost traction...so fail on the drive for not staying in the safer driving line

I don't know about the frontier but going from an Xterra owner to a Tacoma. Toyota > Nissan in many aspects. I remember literally removing the entire front driveline just to get to my oil filter for an oil change in the Xterra. Skid plate and plastic guard crap just to get to the drain bolt....After 50k miles the bolts that were holding the skid plate become loosen from repeatedly remounting that it started backing out by itself even with locktite. And then there were countless hours of looking for random noises that will pop up in the engine bay....Say no to NISSAN!

I've had two new Nissans, an '05 Titan and an '08 Altima. The Titan had issues almost immediately (brake judder, which they fixed. It was a fun truck to drive but the build quality was suspect. I traded it with about 20K miles on it.

The Altima had some type of coolant leak since day one. I could smell coolant when the temp dial was in heat mode. They pressure checked the cooling system twice and determined there was no leak yet my car smelled like a damn house of pancakes. This combined with crappy, low speed squeaky breaks and sliding in the rain made me hate the car.

I will never buy Nissan again. Pretty happy with my Tacoma so far.

always been a Toyota family. first car was a 98 Corolla, then 2003 Corolla, bought 2003 Celica, and then bought my 08 Tacoma that I have now.

no major issues that I've encountered when I had those vehicles. Like a couple of members have said, it'll just feels weird to drive another brand.

getting back at the topic. of course voted for the TRD

pickuptruck.com did a 2012 Midsize Shootout. No surprise who won there. TRD FTMFW!!
    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HUt4pJ8ju10

They also did a Ultimate 4X4 Shootout. 2nd Place only to the Raptor, but a win against the Fronty.

Old thread but i'll put in my $0.02 :D
I had a '11 pro 4x with leather that I traded in for my '13 taco.
resale on the nissan was awful. Actually the reason I got rid of it was cause it was dropping so fast. I did like the leather int on the nissan better, and thats why I bought it in the first place over the taco. Plus there is only one toyota dealer here and I kinda had a resentment toward them for having a monopoly. The frontier also felt more comfortable to me. I'm 6' tall and it seemed to have more legroom and a better seating position for me. The seating position in the back seat was nearly vertical but had more legroom and head room. I could sit in the back of the frontier just fine, but in the taco, my head is tilted to the side because its touching the ceiling. My daughters school backpack could fit fine in the back footwells of the frontier, but it wont fit in the tacos footwell. It has to go on the seat. The pro4x also had a nice roof rack and beefy aluminum bed cleats.
The nissan is definately a good bargain if you plan on keeping it. I love my taco, but I think the pro4x is a great truck as well.
