It is snowing right now so I can't work and can't watch tv.

If you can reach it with a broom I would brush it off. Perhaps a flame thrower might be a good investment

It would, if the dish is at enough of an angle for the snow to slide off. Same with car wax. Pam doesn't stay on for very long so you'd need to re-apply. Dirt does stick to oils so if there is leftover residue when it gets warm, you'll have to hose it down.

    A) My Dish Network Southern Arc dish worked with 3" of snow in the bowl.

    B) It's mounted on a pole so I can go out and wipe it off in 30 seconds.

I am trying teflon spray that you can buy for snow blowers to keep them from clogging up. Figured its worth a shot. Direct TV installer suggested cover but they are not cheap. Mine is roof mounted at the peak so no broom for me. I was thinking about attaching a rope to it so I could shake it but there is a bit of concern that I might mis-align it. It gonna snow tomorrow so we will see how the Teflon works.

Why do installers insist on putting dishes so flipping high?

I think they don't understand look angle.

Install guy said he has seen the pam gum up over time and just makes a sticky mess.

I forgot to mention for all you broomers that the dish is on the back of the house about 25 feet up.

My neighbours to the south have some large thick trees so the dish had to go on the roof to get a good signal.

^^ This for us as well. Otherwise I would have had to run a line down to the back corner of the property and put it on a pole. $$$$$
