The GMC comes with 5 yr 100,000 mile warranty standard. Tundra I would have to buy that additional.

Here is a pic of the truck. The vinyl was done like a few weeks ago so it will come off easily.

Toyota does that warranty because they know that their trucks will last longer than that..... so they say that there is no need for that long of a warranty.:)

Now GMC on the other hand:rolleyes:

But its your money, NOT mine

I hate to see you get out of your Tacoma, but I completely understand your situation.

Personally, I don't think you could have made a better choice. Sure the Tundra is a good truck, but it also is not very good looking IMO. Before I bought the Tacoma, my daily driver was an 2001 Sierra 2500HD with the 6.0. I drove that truck for just over 95K miles and only had to replace an idler pulley ($25). If GM can do anything right, it would be making a quality truck.

Hope everything works out for you.

I had a 2001 Silverado 5.3 V8 it got about 20 mpg on average. But it had a shit load of problems.

But seeing how GM is fighting for their lives? They may actually focus more on building a quality truck now??

The design of the American V8 is far superior to any import. (IMHO) But the problem is that, it is built by people who don't give a crap about workmanship, and quality.

If they ever make a Chevy truck with the quality of a Honda or Toyota? I would be first in line to buy one!!

But ever since GM started manufacturing Toyota in the US. Toyota's quality has drop. So you really don't know these days.

    Good Luck Slim!

If I had the need/money for a full sized, It would be a Silverado hands down. Seriously wanted the Colorado until I came across the Tacoma. My Dad's owned both Chevys and Dodges, and Chevrolet's are the only ones that have held up for more than five years.

    Too few to list.

I had a 2003 Silverado with a lift and 315/75/16's (35") and my mpg on the truck was about 13/14 city but only about 17/18 hwy. GM's trucks has an onboard computer (info ctr) on the dash that tells you your mpg as you are moving, avg mpg, etc. While you are driving on the hwy, you can set the cruise to where you can achieve the best mpg. I would buy it again but I no longer need a big truck.

I never had any problems with it whatsoever. I think the weakest point of it was its old 4 speed auto tranny but now the 5.3L's come with the new 6 speed auto identical to the Allison tranny for the HD. The thing is pretty much bullet proof now.

I have to disagree on the MPG's there. GM's Silverado or Sierra actually gets the best mpgs's out of all the comparable trucks out there. I know it has less power than the Tundra but GM's V8 design has been around for a very long time for a reason. As a previous owner of a WS6 firebird, you'd be amazed on how much you can get out of those motors with a little bolt on here and there.

Also to slimcubby, when and if you get the sierra and want a lift, I suggest CST or RCD and not fabtech or procomp.

I am not sure if I would lift it. If anything maybe just do some sort of leveling lift to equal out the low front end. Do the CST and RCD make anything like that?

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 3500 Duramax love the truck, in many ways more confortable on long trips than my Tacoma. Of course I am 6ft 3in so the seating position and legroom in the new Gmc's is apprciated. I have both because I use them for different tasks.
