Recently I had my Cat converter stolen and i needed a replacement. My dad found this setup at a junk yard and got it off a 2000 tacoma V6. The only thing is it looks nothing like what was originally on my truck. It looks like it will mount up but I have no idea what im looking at. I need some help with this. My stock setup had 1 huge cat and this one has a resonator or something on it. Also my truck has a y-pipe and this one has only 1 solid pipe.

Bottom line is I need this to fit my truck and im hoping it can. Any help would be great.

You can kind of see the y-pipe fitting here.

One pipe versus yours having a y-pipe? Sounds like he got the exhaust off a 4 cylinder and you have a 6 cylinder.

Thats what I am thinking. I asked him if it was a 4 cylinder but he said he saw it was a 6 cylinder.

I wonder if it will still work?

My best guess is no, but I'm not intimately familiar with the 1st gens so not positive.

I have a plan that might work where i can keep my Y-pipe and have it fit. Im sure the cat will be fine because all aftermarket cats are smaller than stock.

Might be worth just chopping the cat off the spare system and getting it welded in place on your old one

My plan is similar to that. But im worried as to which piece is the actual cat? I dont know anything about a 4 cylinder tacoma.

Have you looked under your truck? You should have a two cat system as well. I believe they are both cats. My 2007 had 4 cats, two on each side.
