Help with audio setup

Hey guys,

I have an 08 double cab tacoma and I'm about to do a speaker upgrade with a sub. My plan is to run some 6.5 Hybrid Audio Imagine components in the front with no rears (might get some coaxials to hook up to headunit for backseat riders) and run the Sundown Audio sd-2 10 inch shallow subwoofer behind the seat with a box made by Mr. Marv.

My question to all of you is what kind of amp/amps should I run with this setup. I really wanted to only have to run one 4 channel amp, running the components on channels 1 and 2 and bridging the other two channels. I found an amp that seems perfect on paper for these subs but idk how good it really is. It's the Hifonics Zeus zrx 1000.4- 125w rms x 4 channels at 4ohms, 500w rms bridged (so it says). I was wondering if this would be a good choice or if I should go with a higher quality class D amp, or just get two amps.

If I did have to run two amps, would this be a good set of two?

I'm also more than happy to take other suggestions about any amps you may have in mind, or other speakers or subs you may think are better. I listen to a lot of rock/dubstep and some rap on occasion. I'd appreciate any feedback.

Personally I wouldn't buy hifonics, unless I was on a super tight budget. Always loved alpine amps, solid build, cea rated, and priced decent besides the pdx line, absolutely love the older v12's the sd will take more than 500, obviously, especially in a small sealed box, I had my 1500D running 2 sd2 tens with no problem.

Other solid choices include sundown,aq....and etc.

 

There are tons of good amps out there, too many for anyone to tell you which one's to buy. Since you plan on buying some gear from Mr. Marv I would go with amps he sells. He only sells products he recommends and has a rock solid reputation.

 

I think he's looking for recommendations. Alot more shitty amps out there than good...

 

Personally I've have an Hifonics amps right now and no it hasn't exceeded my expectations but it has done its job. It's not cea compliant because I didn't even know what that was when I bought it so it is not pushing out what it says.

 

get a good class a/b amp to run your door speakers.

 

dbrelectronics.com is the way to go for cheaper, good amps. rebuilt, with warranty.

 

Thanks everyone for your input! So I kept searching and I think I found two good amps that I could possibly use for a one amp setup. I think these two amps would work perfect with my setup.

These two amps would put out plenty enough power to push my components and a woofer running 400 too 500 rms. Out of these two which would you guys pick? Also, I'm looking for a sound quality subwoofer and not looking for spl so much. Are there any other recommendations for a sub? Besides the sundown sd-2, I was thinking about the IDQ 10 or the Rainbow Hammer. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm sure you'll be happy with those. I would also pick a class a/b amp to run the fronts but the full range class D are very good.

 

Thanks! The massive audio actually has A/B to the two speaker channels and class D to the mono sub channel. I think that's what I'm going to get

 

good choice. keep us updated on your install and give a critical review of your setup once you've had it for a month or so.
