well hello everyone, i am in somewhat of a pickle for the moment. I am supposed to make an assembly in solidworks for my engineering design class. The assembly must contain 60 parts and 30 of them being unique. i have been trying to think of stuff but have been drawing blanks. i would like to make something that could be used for the tacoma but i seem to fall short on the count for parts and my skills with solidworks. Any ideas would be appreciated, tacoma related or not.

hmmm.... an easy one might be to pick a suspension bridge, ...probably half of the extension cables on each side are different lengths, i.e. "unique"... :D

...for more of a challenge, a handgun like a colt 1911 surely meets the project requirements, lots of small unique parts inside ;)

A suspension bridge would be fairly simple idea, i think i may ponder that one , iv been looking up the 1911 and it way more technical than one would think being you can take it apart in no time.

Use it every day at work...mech engineer :)

Maybe you could do a plate bumper with hella lights? each plate would be unique, all mounting points would be unique, little led fogs would be unique

ya man i thought about making a plate bumper but the fact people already make a badass one and the one i would probably make would not compare so i saved my self the pain(depression). haha Im going to school for ME right now and this project seems to be kicking all our asses, all the other classes got to make something out of spagetti. so atleast we are using the program.

Did you specialize for your ME?

My last mechanical engineering internship I worked at a water pump company modeling all the old blueprints. One pump I designed had 68 needed parts, all unique. Not counting all the bolts and studs and nuts... I could easily model one up for a class in the future. Some of the assemblies I modeled took over a month working 10 hour days. (Mainly due to shitty computer crashes and lag)

I haven't taken solidworks yet, but CAD sucked balls. How about a pocket knife? With the locking mechanism and bolts and stuff maybe that would be enough?

ya man building a pump would have been a good idea, I had an airdog pump for a power stroke that i though about making but the time frame and me having to learn new things it was not possible.
I really wanted to make an exo skeleton for our trucks but the only way i know of making tubing was through a shell or a cut extrude, there is probalby a button for tubing but its too late now.

You can generate a table to make pipes if they are straight. The only way I know for bent or 3-d bent pipe is to do the sweep. 3-d sketches are hard to do if you're not familiar with the feature.

Do a sport bar that mounts to the bed tracks.
Add a flagpole holder and/or jerry can holder for more parts if needed.
