Does any one know why that when you take out the stock switches on the left. IE - fog light. They have little plastic fitment rail type things that are unique to each slot, which makes it so you cant change the position of the switch without cutting the plastic rail to make it work.

It's like you said, so only the switch that was meant to fit into a particular slot will actually fit there. The wiring harnesses in each slot is specific to the switch that is intended to go in that slot. A dremel is helpful is making the slots work for different switches.

yes i know that the wiring harness is specific.. but the wiring harness is easily moved to the other spot if you detach it from the button.

Yeah I think I will just dremel it so it fits... just wondering if there was a reason why toyota did this in the first place

just saw this. So if I wanted a second foglight switch to the right of my current one I couldnt do it. I was thinking about wiring the new grill light to a 2nd fog light switch ad mounting it in the stock location to make it all look clean

I wouldn't dremel the hole where the switch is placed. It's much easier to shave the "rail/s" on the switch itself with a razor blade... this way allows any OEM switch to be placed in any slot without the excessive cutting. I think I have a pic somewhere. I'll try to find it.

Can't find the right photo. This switch obviously won't fit in the slot, but do you see the 2 (rails/lips/whatever you wanna call them) on the right hand side? Those are the rails that you wanna shave off with a razor blade.

This is a pic from my '05 that I sold a while ago...

I forgot to take pics after i cut the rails off...

I actually just used an exacto knife it was super easy and the switch slid right into the spot.. no harm done.

there are a bunch of online dealers that will sell them a little bit cheaper, once in a great while a tw member will post one in the sale section, and sometimes you can find brand new or used on ebay for decent prices... and by decent, i mean prices a little bit better than the dealer.

a lot easier and cleaner than hacking up the opening, isn't it?
