I'm getting what I would consider premature wear on the driver seat in my 2012 Tacoma TRD. The truck has 14,000 miles on it and the pictures below show the wear.

Has anyone else seen this issue? If so, did you contact the dealer and what was their response. Premature wear, operator error, normal wear and tear?

BTW, I have office job so it's mostly khaki’s and a thin belt. No tool belt, cell phone or knife case, etc.

I'm considering dropping by the stealer-ship to get their take.

    TIA LF

Dam you drive a lot. That does look pretty bad. I'd defiantly take it to the dealer and have it looked at.

Yup, the bottom of my seat was doing the same thing after 20k kms. Dealership had the seats recovered under warranty.

Yep, 40 miles round trip per day adds up quick. Plus, my GF's car is a lease so we drive the Tacoma most of the time to keep the miles low on hers.

Hopefully the dealer will help me out. I guess I should went ahead and popped for the leather.

    OP....

You can see your not climbing in the seat and that you're sliding in. Stop sliding in and your problem will be solved.

I'm doing anything differently in getting in this truck than I did with the 2010 TRD sport I traded for it. With 45K miles, the 2010 looked like brand new. Plus, it was a 2WD sport model which sits higher than the off road I have now.

Gonna stop by the dealer later this week and see what they have to say. I'll post what I find out.

My 2012 SR5 prerunner has 9400 on the clock and the seats look like the day I bought it. But I will be keeping an eye out now. I drive about 60 mile round trip Monday through Friday.

Mine have 120,000 miles and look brand new except for where the lumbar knob rubs against the fabric when you get in and out.

20k miles here and my seat is wearing on the right side a little. It looks fuzzy in a few areas.

That looks like perfectly normal wear. I have had many Toyotas in my lifetime and have seen the same wear patterns before. Do yourself a favor and order a set of Clazzio seat covers and you will never be sorry. Love mine. Had them on since the day I bought the truck.

    Canadian Dad,
I considered adding covers but my concern was the cover material causing the same wear and I wouldn't know it till trade time.

Are you seeing any wear on your seat with covers?

    CIAGDDS,
I had the same issue with my 2010. I just took the knob off and put it in the glove box. When I picked up my 2012, removal of the knob again was the first thing I did.

My gf has a hard time getting into my truck and drags her ass I'm and out of the truck. The seam on the bottom cushion on her side separated. I took it to my dealer, they had someone look at it and they change the lower cover. I'll admit I have to drag my ass in from time to time but mine looks fine at the moment. Think I change the passenger side around 10,000 kms. Think that was about a year old

No, no signs of wear on my Clazzio leather seat covers yet. I have had them since August.

I also noticed early wear on my 2012, TRD, Off-Road, Access Cab. Decided to take advantage of the
Wet Okole group buy back in Sept. I am very pleased with them.

Mine started doing that in the first few thousand miles. Got Wet Okoles. Of course they will wear too, but at least it will protect the seats. I know it is from the way I get in and out of the truck. Too lazy/old to change entry and exit method.
