I do like that switch, but I think if I spend any more money on my truck right now, I'll have to start shopping for an apartment......the wife doesn't even know about the Hellas yet, I'm kinda scared to tell her.

foglights have a shorter,wider more spread out beam, where as driving lights are more narrow and alot longer distance. i got driving lights mainly for the purpose of seeing on down the road when im going hunting,when im way out in the sticks. fog lights are good if you live in an area with lots of rainy/foggy weather. fog and driving lights are awesome tho.

those are driving/long range/off road lights....not fog lights because the pattern is long and narrow, not wide and spread out.

if i went with driving lights and wired them seperate i could have my lowbeams and fog lights on plus teh driving lights if i wanted right

 

How'd you end up with an extra? If it's really gettin in your way, I suppose I could take it off your hands.

 

You can wire them however you want them to work. I have mine wired so I can turn them on anytime I want. However, they go off when I turn off the truck. That way I don't accidentally run the battery down, although it would be pretty hard to not know mine were on. They are the looong range offroad lights. It is amazing how far they shine. Totally illegal to use in town though...

actually, when i ordered this switch....i ordered a back up for bed lights, but i dont mind hooking you up, as im not too worried bout bed lights now. at the time also....i ordered some switches from 4x4mods.com, but i didnt like those, so i gave them to my father in law for his jeep.

plus, if i decide that i want another switch, i'll just tell the wife its for a good cause...she's just about quit asking whats next on my truck!!

Haven't installed them on the taco yet, but yes....they will be installed in connection with the high beams. That's how they're currently installed on the jeep.

I can slap plastic covers on them and they'll pass inspection.

That's all based on Pennsylvania law requirements.

 

Those look very nice and I am sure they are. KC makes a good light. I just want to warn you that those are 100w off-road lights. They are the KC version of the ProComp lights I have on my truck. You will NOT be able to use those at all in town. They will only be usable out in the wilderness. I believe you said that you never go offroad. I think most driving/fog lights are rated around 55w plus they have a wider beam of light. The 100w long range lights focus the entire beam of light into a tight circle that travels a loong way. If you turn those on in town you will blind drivers several blocks away. You should be able to find some equivalent driving lights.

Yes, I personally think you will like either of those better if you are not an off-roader. The Hella 500's look to be a little larger in diameter. Make sure they will fit in the space provided by your bull bar. I am not a big fan of the rectangle lights but that is simply personal preference. If you like them, and they fit, go for it...

 

of the guys who works in used car (im a regular line tech) said they take these kinds of things off trucks every week some thing about if an after market item doesnt turn off with the keys off then they have to remove it and they just throw them away. so the next few they take off they will save for me
