New here. Will start with who I am or I should say who we are. We are 3 old guys who come from the road racing world. A trip was made to Bonneville salt flats 3 years ago to just take a look see. We came home and decided to take a stab at the salt. First thing was to take inventory of our assets. We had a few 4AG Toyota engines left from the TOYOTA ALANTIC days. The next thing was to pick a class to run in where the motors could do the most. We chose MMP that is modified mid size pickup. We found a well used 98 Toyota Tacoma Extended cab (we wanted the longer wheel base) and went to work. We gutted the total running gear, entire engine bay and the entire inside of the cab. Next came the roll cage. This cage is massive (one of many rules) Next the engines. The first 4AG was sleeved to get to under 1500 cc. This put us in H class. That is H/MMP. Engine #2 with a longer crank gave us a bit over 1800cc putting us in G class which is under 2000cc G/MMP. Other MODS
Fuel cell , GM T10 4 speed trans ( old truck trans would never take the HP) Quick change rear end. Racing seat, 6 point safety belts, fire system and on and on The rules are tight but we passed tech inspection first time out.
Now for the results for 2007 we set a new record for H/MMP 134.505 MPH old record 113 .
After a 2 hour engine change in 100+ temps (gets hot out there) we
set a new record for G/MMP 144.568 MPH ,old record 126 MPH.
Now its 2008 and we are back this time with TURBOS and now 2 new classes H/BMMP and G/BMMP The B is for blown class ( can be a supper charger or a turbo)
Results record for H/BMMP 153.686 MPH
    G/BMMP 158.828 MPH
    Going back this year 2009
    Pictures and story to follow.

...few understand what we are trying to do, but they vastly out number those who understand why.....

That is one cool ride you have there.

By any chance have you heard of a Jimmy Stevens out of California? He built a couple engines for me a few years back. If I remember him correctly his engines have held a few records out there.

    Anyways, welcome to TacomaWorld!

Looks sweet and you're right that roll cage looks big and tricky to build.
