Why do toyotas last so long???

We know that Toyota's are tough and last forever.But the question remains why???? Better materials for parts,better engineers?
What do you think?

 

They just do.

 

Because they cost so much people tend to take better care of them hahaa.. I'm not too sure on the new ones but I think its becasue they are were built so simple that there isn't a lot to break and when it is its easy to fix.. Just my guess.

anything that beautiful has a reason to live, every other car could last this long, it just has no reason to keep living because it knows deep down it could never be as cool as a toyota

Because the steel that goes into making them is imported from the USA to Japan. There they form them into parts that make up the tacoma. Then they ship the parts back to the US and Mexico to be assembled by workers that respect having a job.

Goes to show you Americans can build equal or better cars if the govt regulations would allow it. Break the legacy contracts, take the chains off the car industry and watch them build supurb cars that get 100mpg.

GMs hydrogen car did it. But they arent allowed to produce it.

 

The Japanese have all the connections and have the minds to do the things that the Big 3 wish they could do.

The Tacomas and Tundras are very basic trucks(little to fix or repair) but still have enough to be called a truck and to be used as a truck...

Toyota Nissan and all of the other imported companies; the engineers design these cars so that they can last for 20-30+ years instead of the usual 10 for the Big 3.

Overall Better design............. BETTER EVERYTHING

 

I'd have to say because they are a very simple truck to begin with. Complex crap tends to break. Plus, Toyota tends to use the same parts across many of their vehicle lines, so common parts that are proven over several makes/models. Dunno, but they just flat out work. Love mine.

Even a decent shadetree wrench can repair just about anything on these trucks. Bonus.

 

The reasons are several. But the main reason is because of a man called Edward Deming. He was an American who developed what is now known as "lean manufacturing". He developed that standard during WW2 for the US military.

Deming was employed by the Japanese government after the war to help Japanese manufactures. His core principals revolve around quality. He also stressed testing not only of the materials used in manufacturing, but testing products with consumers. He also applied the same principals used in the war effort: maximizing plant efficiency. Japanese plants in the 70's could produce several totally different cars per each line. US plants didn't.

If you look at any Japanese designed car and look at its engine, you'll not only find less parts, but the parts that are there are unusually well-engineered. This is ironic because Henry Ford's attitude for the Model T was that quality and reliability comes from limiting unnecessary parts and focusing on improving the quality of the parts remaining. Ford later did not stick with that philosophy.

So the bottom line is that they tend to be good because the focus is on quality.

Toyota uses as few suppliers as possible so they can keep an eye on quality. Cadillac over the last few years have been following this same model and their quality has gone up too. Basically, it's about making the parts better, not cheaper. Toyotas are not perfect, but model to model they have a reputation of quality that few large car companies can compete with. The exception might be Honda, but they do not sell the variety or quantity of Toyota.

tolerences. toyota had to work very hard to win the american market over. in my opinion, they knew if they built a rugged, long lasting vehicle, it would sell itself eventualy. their engines are built in a practical, yet very efficient design and by keeping tolerences very tight, are able to run 2,3, and 400,000mi. the domestics didn't worry about longevity, as they were sure the public would be ready for a new vehicle every 5 years.

 

Every Toyota comes with a Ninja pre-installed.
