Engine Won't Start... HELP!!!

I'll bet ya we have our own (TW) well known and experienced Master Techs biting their tongues while reading this thread.

 

yeah it's not mine. It was a joke in reference to the monkey thing people keep talking about.

 

It's also funny you mention price. The guy asked if we had any rodents (mice, etc) because I guess he thinks that may have been the problem. When I first realized it wouldn't start there were about 2-3 swallows that had gotten stuck in the garage overnight. If these indeed caused this problem, I could probably get this on my insurance and only have to pay whatever the deductible is.

Odds are that wont be the case and I'll be out 8-10 hours of labor costs (~$900+)

 

Yea, I've seen them chime in time to time telling the OP to tell the shop something to look at, and that's exactly what the problem is. TW toyota techs are not Monkeys!

 

I'm also going to guess battery.

Too bad I won't be there when it gets picked up so I can ask these questions. You bet though if something is messed up then ill be back getting them to fix it. I just have a bad feeling my head unit will be jacked up

 

True. At this point I really just want to have my truck back in a similar condition it was in before, and the engine actually start

Truck is apparently fixed and I'll get it back tomorrow. Dad said they said the problem was a relay under the console so I don't know what relay is under there.

I would call them yourself and have them explain it with part numbers. Then you can check out toyodiy.com for some exploded diagrams.

Got it back today. The final verdict was something I had done 2+ years ago with my aftermarket stereo all of a sudden caused it to not start. Whatever.

The idiots also lost one of the door panel push tabs (Why were the door panels even off?) and tried to pry the stereo out with a flathead and gashed about a 2" line in my dash kit. What kind of dumb ass tries to pry out the stereo? Next time I'm home I'm going to make them get me a new door tab and try to get a new dash kit out of them. I also then had to take the stereo back out because they forgot to plug in the radio plug.

Glad this ordeal is finally over.

 

Let them plug back in the radio. If you plug it in and then say you guys forgot to do it, but I went in and did it, oh by the way, you put this gash here too. They may claim you did it when you went back in yourself.

 

That's what I was thinking too. Make them plug it in.

Well the amount of time and money in gas it would cost to go the 250 miles roundtrip back home to the dealer would not be worth it.

When I took the radio out I realized the dash kit was broke anyways so I'm just going to pay the $25 for a new one. However they will be getting me a new door piece.
