I was originally thinking of going to a Red Top... But I read quite a few stories of bad batteries. Apparently after Optima shifted production to Mexico quality control went to shit. Maybe they've got it sorted out - IDK. Seemed like it was really hit or miss.

A battery is pretty important to me..

Sears has got DieHards for about $220. Plus they're made by Deka in the US if that matters.

i hope i don't have to buy a new battery, i don't really want to fork out 140 or 220 either way! optima's warranty is 3 years vs 4 years at sears.

i also wonder if yellow is worth looking into. before i do a purchase ill do research but damnit batteries are stupid expensive thats 1/3 of a bumper.

Dont ask me why, but if you do go optima, you are supposed to go for yellow, not red. If you hop over to the gitout.com forum, venturer did a writeup. I thought about odyssey but heard there were problems because its basically a standard battery with double the fins or something and somehow that causes problems - again, it was written up over on gitout

Jonnie I still need to extend my rear brake line. You just bought yours from toytec right? I thought about a braided one on TW but the guy quoted me 110$ for it. I thought it was ridiculous, maybe he misquoted me.

    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.
Yellow tops are a deep cycle battery meaning they can be drained and fully recharged many many time with no performance loss.

Red tops aren't like that. They are considered a starter battery as they get constantly recharged all the time but can flow tons of amps quickly when needed. But they aren't designed to be drain and recharged like yellow tops.

This is why yellow tops make a great second battery as they get isolated from the alternator for periods of time.

The die hards are great too they are basically the same as an Odessey.

thanks for your input monte, after research i noticed my brother was wrong about the vibrations on the yellow. i'll see what his discount is for a yellow top, considering i want some lights and ideally a winch one day. i doubt ill go with a die hard, but i might look into them.

Thanks Mike, I still hope I don't have to replace my battery, but at least I won't spend a half a day without my truck tomorrow. It's one thing when you don't drive your truck, but when you can't... it's completely different!

I gave my dad a blue top and he wheels his jeep pretty hard (not your average jeep). Hasn't had any problems with it yet. He runs a lot off it and has a small block with winch and bunch of other stuff.... My 2 sense haha
    Cents

Have you checked your starter solenoid?

Yeah I talked to him and he still has it. Or I'm talking to Tim about designing and building one.

I already have 1" spacers. I think my truck sits perfect right now. I need to find a lifted Tacoma to see where I am on height

I really like that bumper as well. I'd go with Tim's over an all pro any day though. Much stronger and well fitted.

In the end its gonna be a cost factor. I know what I can get the all pro for. With Tims we will have to design it from the ground up

If you talk to cam-shaft on gitout, that guy is sort of a battery wiring genius. he might have some advice for you.

It's a Revenge fab in case you were wondering who the fab shop was. ;)
