Good incentive. That needs a lot more grease.

Should take grease and ball it up in your hand the size of a golf ball. That is the correct amount to be used in a clean bearing. That bearing seems to have less then needed. Just remember over greasing will also cause issues.

Listening to people here you'd think nylon cages were the devil but I'm not so convinced.

x2.....Cage is less likely to dissipate heat but also less likely to generate heat.

I think some people have issues based on lack of lube or bad seals. Personally I feel mine bit the dust after contaminants were introduced.

Plastic - softens stretches wears faster.
Metal cages - will outlast rollers and they wont let rollers touch.
Metal cages - 10x better then chepo plastic garbage.

Yes, it is plastic, but, no, it is not a cage. The plastic insert holds the bearings in place so they don't fall out (they share a tapered race). As the hub gets pressed into the bearing assembly, the insert gets pushed out and you then throw it away or recycle it.

Yes but the 2nd and 3rd pictures show the plastic cage. Rears use a plastic cage as well. They are quite durable though.

My 96 Tacoma 4x4 has 296k and the bearing have yet to be changed! I'm pretty sure it is almost time to change them but everything I hear about it makes it sound like a real pain in the...why can't someone just sell a preassembled hub? Why does it all have to be sold separate? Why can't Toyota make something simple!
