I guess it depends on how you look at it. If you are willing to pay money for newer parts as you bust/break things on a 2012, then go for it. To me if I was to go fording or whatnot I'd feel better about beating the shit out of a piece of shit than a nice new vehicle lol. Of course I am a broke college student.:D

You can rent a dehumidifier and that will solve more problems than you can imagine and in a small area like a car interior it kicks azz.

We even pulled all the moisture out of all the dash instruments without even touching them (water was to roof on that one) ...

It will make that air super dry to soak up all the moisture everywhere in that sealed area and put the moisture in a drain tank.

    It really works ...

With a strong dehumidifier, you don't really need a fan or anything but sealed the area off.

We did it on a Lexus with real wood trim and the dehumidifier even sucked the relative moisture out of the wood trim. ...

but where's the fun in that? :D

How are you a broke college student with a 2013 Tacoma? Lol

Water did make it inside the door panels for sure. I opened the door and water was pouring out of the door panel from the drain holes at the bottom. It never hit the seat bottoms luckily. Just the floor itself. Where it came in from? Probably the firewall and the grommets on the floorboard itself.

Yeah military stuff is a pain in the ass to clean, they use these big firefighter style hoses to clean them and on the inside, it would probably be a real pain in the ass to clean. I wouldn't know because I was never lucky (or unlucky) enough to go fording in one of those.

Dude, where can I rent one from? You are about to be my hero for that. I need to have this thing 100% dried up by tomorrow. So if I get this right, what you are saying is that I don't even have to pull the carpet back up?

    Holy crap

One more thing. Idk if it was smelly water or if I am indeed getting a mildewy smell now but I smelled the padding of the carpet on the drivers side and it has this smell to it. It went underwater on the 3rd, I have been leaving the windows cracked open to leave air circulating through and have been trying to dry it since then. How long does it take for mildew to start stinking up carpet?

but this is your party, I couldn't tell you

you can't "waterproof" your Tacoma though so better learn to work on it if you don't know how...

I only did this in the past because I have no garage and it rained for days after I swamped my truck. While this is a great idea the best bet is to immediately remove the interior and open up the harnesses - then throw in a dehumidifier

    I sealed all of mine

    Yes it is.

It should take no more then an hour to remove the entire interior. Then just throw in the driver seat. I drove around for a couple weeks like this.

All depends on common sense, regular maintenance, and luck.

If you keep up on the maintenance that will be needed due to the quicker wear of parts I don't see any issues with having some fun under water. After all it is a truck regardless of how much it cost.

From a financial standpoint it will always be better to destroy a cheaper truck.

That sure is a good looking Taco!

I wasn't getting pissy, lol ahh I gotcha.. you were just looking for a substitution comment without saying you can't waterproof it. Yeah I've been wrenching on vehicles for well over a decade now. So i'm definitely good there. I just wanted to CLARIFY what you were speaking of so we were both on the same page and book :sandwich:

Carpet is all done now :D

I couldn't fully dry it before because I couldn't fit this long bed in the garage, with some persuasion of the junk management in the garage, I barely got it to fit :D

I'm definitely going to have to invest in a dehumidifier or something for next time (if there is a next time). Given all the time I have put into trying to dry the interior without a dehumidifier, It sounds like a great solution to trying to dry the car outdoors overnight.

I fully agree, from a $$ standpoint it definitely is cheaper.

Die electric grease all the wiring harness connections especially distributor and computer plugs, snorkel, silicone cab holes. Re route differential breather valve into the cab. swapping for a rubber floor is always easy to clean. Also if the cab floods use a wet/dry shop vac to suck out as much as you can from fabrics etc. Then crank the heat with windows cracked and fans.
