So I'm in the market for some running boards for the truck. Could you guys chime in and let me know what you think about these. Reviews pictures and stuff would be nice. I like how clean and factory they look. they seem to be high enough so they will not high center if we ever faced with that type of situation

I'm not a fan of the oval running boards/bars because they stick out too far and seem to not help at all with getting in the truck. From what others have said is they scrape the back of your leg getting out and sit way to high to help get in the vehicle.

The predators/ n-fab/ smitty built are nice but my truck isn't lifted and I think they would look a bit off on mine. I hear when they get wet they are really slippery as well.

    Thanks in advance,
    Nate

I like nerf bars myself but those running boards look nice.

I don't have any close up pictures of the running boards on my truck but I have the factory set. I chose them for the look and the fact they stick out a bit from the door.

They are sturdy and also help protect the side of the truck from kicked up debris. They are high enough that I wouldn't worry about them catching on moderate terrain. I believe they sit higher than the frame but remember they are not sliders. If you do any off highway I would recommend sliders. A bit more money but actually functional. There are so many sliders out there you have a good variety of styles to choose from.

Factory running boards on my 2012. They are fine for people getting in an out of the truck, but I think they would fold quickly if you high centered on them...for on-road use only.

Thanks for the responses and pictures!

I'm happy to hear that these will actually protect the side of the truck as well!

I'm not too worried about them folding because we hardly ever go off the beaten path but I know some boards hang really low and can be bent/torn off from the smallest hump.

Anyone have problems with them fading over the year or sratching really easy. I know they will scratch some but anyone who thinks they scratch too easy?

Biggest concern, are they actually functional for getting in and out of the vehicle?

Oh, were would a good place to find OEM parts like this for a good price? Not a fan of the dealership and their above average prices on everything under the sun.

    Thnaks again,
    Nate

I need these OEM running boards, these would be great for standing on while strapping down my Stand Up Paddle boards and Long boards. I think these would be better than nabs with steps for everyday use of tying down things on the rack? Anybody agree?

Also interested in best price around?

    Thanks

The good thing about these is you can apply skateboard grip tape onto the whole step and cut down the bulk of scratches.

No money, all went to truck...
I got those on my 12. I like them better than the pipe style ones. They look better, ride higher and look cleaner in my mind.

In Hawaii, a few times a year there's a 20% toyota parts sale. That's when I got mine. Was a pretty good deal.

A few bolts and BAM, installed. I was suprised that its just plastic mounted in a metal frame but so far they've been pretty solid.

Are you talking about the truck door jam or the actual running board? I'm sure both will as we are scuffing up the door jam pretty bad getting in and out with no boards.

I got these for my parents Tacoma. And I looked online found the price and the part number. Called local dealership and asked about said part number and they said they had it gave me a price and I said well I can get it online for blah blah and he said come in. So I did with print out and he matched it.

running board edge itself. can't help it eventually a wear pattern will develop
unless all your passengers and yourself don't step on it. had some on my 4runner before I ditched them (clogged up on rocks :D ) and despite taking care eventually worn out in one spot YMMV

when you have no boards, people tend to put foot right inside on mats and hike into the vehicle and actually
don't touch the rocker panels at all, ...anyway I found less rocker panel wear when boards were gone

    again, YMMV

I don't understand the point of paint wearing off. The runniing boards that the op is asking about is plastic topped. There's no paint to scuff

No, the plastic can scuff but I was referring to the paint on the actual rocker panel.

YMMV on my behalf means DERP.... I thought about that after a few mins but I figured someone would correct me. At least it was a nice correction.
