So I recently had some front end damage to my truck. Naturally I was bumbed out that my new truck had been hit, but then I began to think that I may be able to get some upgrades out of this deal! My front bumper is going to have to be replaced so I was thinking about upgrading to either the All Pro or DeMello bumper. The body shop was trying to steer me away from an aftermarket bumper. Reason being that "they make the vehicle less safe by messing with the crumple zones and delaying or expediting air bag deployment." I'd like to get some input on either of these bumpers. Pros/Cons of aftermarket bumpers. Lets hear it!

I just did the same thing to my 2012 Tacoma and am picking up an ARB bumper tomorrow. Airbag compliant.

I am also looking for a bumper for my 2012 but I am trying to find a company that makes a hybrid style.

I was hoping for something a little less bulky than the ARB or the Body Armor bumpers. I have a feeling that once I get a new bumper I will start an expensive downward spiral of mods to come... lift, roof rack, light bar. This is going to get out of hand fast.

I might be a little partial but I'd say you can't go wrong with a Pelfreybilt front bumper for a 2012. Sexiest bomb proof bumper available, built in the USA :D

It might be delayed say some but your definetly gonna crush or flatten anything in your way with a metal bumper haha.

Hit up relentless or one of the local vendors, they do amazing work but they take a little time

Both my rear and my front bumpers were damaged from a driver in a parking lot. Was thinking of doing the same as you until I realized I still would be paying out of pocket to get the upgrades. Granted not as much but still money I don't have. During my research I was very impressed with relentless fab bumpers. Certainly worth a look!

After my truck got crashed into I ordered my front plate bumper upgrade. Terrible idea... At least for my pocket book. My truck's starting to look good though!! Haha

    LoL. I hear yeah.

And OP I'm certainly not trying to steer you away. Just trying to shed light that it will be more expensive to go the plate bumper route. Wish I could do it!!!

Pelfrybilt prolly has the BEST 2012 bumpers on the market right now.

I appreciate all the tips. The Pelfreybilt looks pretty legit. That may be what I go with...

Well, I need my stock bumper intact for trim pieces with the ARB bumper. Looks like I will be looking for the Pelfreybilt. Does anyone know if I need my stock bumper for trim pieces to fill in any gaps??? My bumper was split vertically when I hit the tire. Thanks.

My neighbor hit 2 deer last year with his ARB bumper. No damage. ZIP. The bumper paid for itself...something to think about. Not only did he not have to deal with his insurance and paying deductibles, he probably saved himself from being dropped by his insurance company. After his 2nd deer, I added an ARB myself.

You really can't go wrong with any of the above mentioned bumpers. Either way, the stock plastics are torn up and you're better off upgrading now while the insurance company is about to help pay for some of it. I hit a deer....$650 of damage to the stock bumper....I added another $300 to upgrade mine.

The body shop said they would install the Pelfreybilt bumper! Thankfully insurance is helping pay for this upgrade. Can't wait for everything to get in. I'll post some pics once its all done.

I am normally not a big fan of the ARB bumper, but it looks great on your truck.
