I haven't heard any of your videos but from experience it is most likely 1 or more of the idler pulleys.

I agree, but that's nothing. You should have seen the tensioner on my crazy daughter's 97 Saturn. You could hear her coming from 1/4 mile away and when she finally let me replace it I couldn't believe it was still in one piece!

Does anyone know the prices for the idler pulley from Toyota? Or gates/ other aftermarket pulleys? Opinions on aftermarket pulleys?

Agreed, i tell customers all the time when they get upset that something failed after that long and they want to use a cheaper alternative. Thats exactly what i say.

Totally agree with oem stuff!!! I usually always go back with the oem. I was just curious if anyone had luck with aftermarket one. Every now and then people find good aftermarket stuff

Case in point: I just replaced my lower ball joints and outer tie rod ends with Moog. Both items have grease fittings which the OEM versions lacked.

There are 3 of those idler pullies, 2 are the same and 1 is different and more expensive. I cant remember how much the price difference was, but call Camelback, they will let you know. I havent personally delt with Camelback, but i have always heard very good things about them. I would consider replacing all 3 why you are there anyway.

I'll defer to Toyota Tech, I just posted the first one that I came to. Always nice to have guys with regular real world experience posting here! Home mechanics like myself don't see this every day. Hopefully the Camelback diagrams should allow the OP to find out the exact parts he needs.

Camelback is OEM Toyota and $90.

Looks like aftermarket is around $63 at O'Reilly's.

    $27 difference, your call.

ETA: Around $40 at rockauto.com - You probably won't find it any cheaper than that.

Thank you for your knowledge. Most places would cost you to get real world technical information like this site gives freely. You techs in the trenches see this stuff daily and save everyone here lots of dollars that we would be throwing at parts without your help. Good on you sir!

Get gates from Rock auto. Much cheaper and better

OEM pulleys are cheap unsealed crap on these trucks. Gates is sealed and will last longer then OEM. For over 8 years people have been using these same Gates pulleys on the 05+ Tacoma's and FJ's.

Also unless the tension pulley has lost tension there is NO need to replace the arm if the pulley is just crap. You only need to replace the pulley itself.

here is the part #'s and torque listings
