What's your gas mileage with 33" tires or bigger?

Hi,

Please don't bash or say stuff like "go get a prius".

I just want to know what MPG most people are getting with whatever lift they have, whatever gears they have and with 33" tires or larger.

I'm sure this will be useful to many people wanting to know different setups and what others are getting. Also, I am aware MPG is driver dependent, and dependant on many other things, but just for points of reference. That being said, if you can just fill out these fields:

Example:

17-18mpg average, but stays about the same with all highway at 75-80mph

Just got back from a trip, had sandbags in the back, plus luggage, got 14mpg on first tank, then threw out the sand, mpgs returned to normal.

 

Are you guys are compensating with how much further you are actually traveling with larger tires? Or are you just looking miles on your trip odometer and dividing by gallons/ fill up.

With 285/70/17 vs stock 265/70/16 tires, when my speedo says 60 on the dash, I'm really going 64mph. Keep that in mind...

60mph for 1 hour on the dash, would be in traveling 64 miles real life, put that through 300 odo reading and you;ve gone 320 actual miles (or aprox 1-1.5 gallons of fuel to miles per gallon that you're not compensating for) marinate that in your brain for a little.

so, everyone who says their gas milage dropped horrible amounts, sure more weight to turn takes more power, more rolling resistance, but once you're going it doesn't take very much more power to keep you at a steady 60mph vs being stock. i think we're losing some, but not as bad as you may think people are making it out to be.

i say -0.5 mpg at the max

16mpg without compensating for odo. difference

City I am too skeered to check as I fill it up at about 3/4 tank to keep as much weight in it as possible!!

just thought i would share this info

i went 60.8 actual miles today, and the odometer only registered 57.1 might not seem like much... but, when i go 121,600 actual miles it will only register 114,200 on the odometer.

if it gets there...
486,400 actual miles will register only 456,800 miles

help a little with resale value, and all that gas and MPG not accounted for adds up doesnt it

Scangauge reads about 15-17mpg around town and 17-21mpg on the highway.

 

no idea how to convert this this miles per gallon for each tank

but 243.2 acutal miles, your odometer will say 228.4

243.2 actual miles / 16gal = 15.2 mpg
228.4 odometer miles / 16 = 14.2 mpg

safe to say what ever you are calculating adding +1 to that seems reasonable. the further you go on the tank the higher that number, extra 1.5 - 2.0 mpg is very possible

 

14.7 mpg average with 4.88's and 37's. I also have a well tuned motor (dialed to stoich below 3000 rpms, 12.5:1 above 3K) and a six speed. I also run premium non ethanol fuel.

Tire-size-conversion.com. you can get actual % difference between 2 different tire sizes. Makes it a lot easier, and accurate to figure mpg's.

 

I'm averaging 19-21 on 255/85/16s with my 5sp 2.7 4.11 gears
