Hi guys, over the past week in my evenings after work I have managed to get the extra two runs of wires added to my lightforce light harness (for 2 extra lights), wrapped it, and finally tested them tonight by draping over the outside of my truck. Now the only thing stopping me from getting it installed is exactly where and how to go thru the firewall with my harness? Once I get thru I was going to follow existing wires along the frame and then of course finding a way to get the switch wires into the cab, but first things first...

below is a picture of where I think I should go thru, but this is the first time doing anything like this so I was hoping for some good advice on how to get thru here without making a mess of my existing weatherproof sleeve.

I was thinking going thru where the blue arrow is in the photo is pointing (on the outside of the existing rubber tube that those wires are passing thru. Then sealing with RTV Silicone but I'm not sure where this will come out. Will I need to drop out a wheel well? I would like to get under the truck with this set of wires...not into the cab.

My harness is laying where the pink arrow is pointing. (eight 14ga wires wrapped) and it'll be going to the back of my cab thru that hole maybe.

I guess if anyone has done this before and can offer any pointers I would really appreciate it. I've had my showbar and lights mounted for about a week now and I'm dying to light up the trails!

Testing; I got these lights on a trade with a good friend in Australia so my Aussie roo crossing switch is quite fitting and brings back good memories. I was thinking mounting beside my entune usb port (which poses another problem with installation...how to route it there!?)

back here is where I'm going with the wires (incase you were wondering)

I would personally drill a hole and put a grommet in.

I saw some grommets at lowes tonight and thought about that briefly. Is there a specific area that would be best for doing this? Maybe next to the small grommet up above the one I was pointing at in the first pic?

If you go through where the blue arrow is, it comes out into the cab...
Not really sure of a good way to get down to the frame other than hugging the firewall and going down close to the exhaust. I haven't looked at that, so that might not even be feasible.
You could however go through that grommet into the cab and then run it through the kick panel and door sill, and out the grommet underneath the seat. I have cut holes in both of those grommets and have not had any moisture issues. The one under the seat I siliconed. The one on the firewall I did not.

go through the boot by your blue arrow. You can us a large flat blade screwdriver to VERY GENTLY push through the boot beside the factory wires from the inside of the cab and use a large ziptie from home depot ( theyre like 3 feet long and sold in packs of 5 or 6 if I remember) as a wire runner to feed through the hole you make. seal with black GE silicone II sealant ( the black silicone remains fairly flexible once cured unlike the clear or white stuff). be careful and take your time and it will work out fine. I'd also suggest running a few more wires through at the same time before you seal it up for any future work.

If you're running to the rear of the truck, there is a grommet under each seat you can run wires through as well. Hope this helps!

however you go through, be sure to seal it up with some silicone to prevent any water from entering the cab...

Thanks for the advice guys. After looking today I think it would be too risky to route by the exhaust and down so I'm going thru the firewall and down this little channel to the other grommet that is down there about where Trip is looking horizontal wise but just there under the seat. Havent cut anything yet...

Here it is 4am and I'm out in the road aiming my lights I just finished wiring :)
had to cut some corners and wire the last bit up quickly with wire nuts so I can get some sleep so I'm able to go ride quads tomorrow (its my Birthday!!!)

(so I'm left with a project to finish another day, might do a build write up as I took heaps of photos and it dont look like there is much out there as far as reference goes.) I think the istall is quite clean, tucked away nicely and barely noticeable in the engine bay. I was pretty scared to tackle this solo but it turned out well i think.

Looks good. That's how I would have ran the wires.
    And, happy birthday!!!
