New member from spokane area. This part of the country is gorgeous, where should I go to explore sightsee tomorow? (short notice huh). Planning on going over toward cour de alene idaho. I got some business over there and plan on eating lunch there. Already been to the lake cour de alene, going to go a little further (maybe to MT to say ive been there??)

Anyway, I'll try to remember to bring camera etc maybe laptop as well?

Any easy offroading to be done in this area? Already checked out seven mile orv, hope to do some more light DD wheeling :)

North of Spokane and just outside of Chewelah you can head up into the mountains. Some decent fireroad and such. Nice drive anyway, we head up there a couple of times a year and go shooting. We used to camp up there a lot when I was a kid. Not really sure about the CD'A area, I always get lost. :)

Take Division street north through Spokane follow highway 395 north for about an hour. Pass through Chewelah They have a safeway a Subway and a Mcdonalds if you wanna take something up with you to eat/drink. As you leave town the road bends left and on you want to turn right on Sand Canyon Road (County Highway 2998)and follow it for a while. It will turn to dirt
    [IMG]
and you will entern the Colville National Forest.
Drive around the mountains, you never know what you will find
    [IMG]
and then when you're done head home
    [IMG]

makes for a nice long day trip with the wife. A little lunch some shooting and a lot of driving and sightseeing, not too bad either. Chewelah also has a small sketchy casino as you head into town if you wanna experiance the local flavor (don't).

I lived in CDA for a few years. Wonderful area, worked in Spokane. Therer's some nice easy trails just North around the Elk area. There's a nice trail that skirts south of Mt Spokane through the wilderness {used to have some great mud} that will drop you off in ID just north of some golf course near Twin Lakes on to hwy 41. Also, if you go to CDA and take the road skirt Lake Fernan up into the hills (TAKE A MAP FOR THE SERVICE ROADS) and you'll find trails all through there.... good camping in the BumbleBee area. When I get home I'll look for the actual road names for some of these places and try to repost. Memory is getting bad in my old age.

OK, the last 2 brain cells are working. I found this by accident while at "work". So, if you go north on Hwy 2 out of Hillsdale (Freya will eventually turn in to this) go north until you get to Elk-Chattaroy road (if you miss it then take Chattaroy Rd about 1-2 miles further on). Stay on Chattaroy Rd after about (maybe) 5 miles this will split off take the right to Tallman Rd [this will take you up around the mtn and many trails to explore!!!!] which will eventually turn into Blanchard Cr Rd in ID which will eventually hit Hwy in ID. go south on 41 turns into 290 into Spokane.
    Happy hunting.
