Before I break it, does anyone know how to remove the silver trim pieces for the steering wheel controls on a 2012 Tacoma? I want to paint them black. Seems like they just snap in, but sure is on there tight.

I have not worked on one yet, but I'm betting that you have to remove the airbag in order to remove the controls and trim. I don't want to sit here at my keyboard and tell someone to remove their airbag if ya know what I mean.

Looks to be 2 screws on each trim panel under the airbag. Please be careful if you are going to remove the airbag. I don't recommend it unless you are confident in your abilities.

Well, I tell ya, it wasnt easy, I give alot of credit to guys that use this stuff everyday. Took me a few tries but I got it, now to see how well it holds up. The 3m wrap is rated for outdoor use also so it should be good inside.

You did a really nice job on that. I think it'd look really good in matte black.

That is awesome! I had been waiting for the pics! How hard was it do do around the steering wheel control panels themselves? I haven't ever vinyl wrapped anything, wondering how hard it would be.

The stuff stretched easily, so it can bend around corners. I just got it good and tight around the controls then used a sharp exacto knife and ran it around the small gap around the controls, thats the easy part. just do it in warm temps so it can stretch. I gotta say If I had the patience to do it, then anyone can, LOL.

Wanna know more about this OP.

Planning on doing it all tomorrow, matte black.

Radio bezel, steering wheel trim, dash rings, and the tweeter rings. Could really use any extra wisdom!

Any more details on how to remove the bezel, get to the controls? I have a similar need to remove, but to clean the controls.
