285s require AT LEAST a 3" lift, I do believe. The max you could possibly go on stock would probably be 265, but don't quote me on that.

FYI, Nitto Terra Grapplers are rated for about 35-40k tread life via all the reviews i've read. But it's your truck, go with what you want :D

    Setup would looks nice!

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
Is there an option for less backspacing?

He is looking at 285/60/18 thats smaller than 285/75/16 or 285/70/17. Still he will probably rub

There is an option for 4.5 bs -12mm offset. If you get tires that are 285 wide you will need these specs not 5.7 bs +18 offset. -12mm will stick out past the fender flares and you will have to trim to fit these tires.

With that backspacing/offset and 285s the tire might rub the UCA. With skinnier tires it may work.

Click on the link Owen posted, that guy has monsters with the tire size you are looking at with 4.5 bs and -12 offset. You might have to do a little trimming and the tires will stick out past the fender flares. If your alright with that then buy them. That backspacing/offset will work just make sure the bolt pattern and hub bore is right and your good to go

At the bottom of the first page he says they are 4.5 bs and -12 offset. I am not to familiar with that size tire, i have 285/70/17 which are taller and i had to trim alot. But from reading that thread it looks like trimming will be minimal, probably remove front mudlaps, trim the platsic at the front of the wheel well that hangs down

Hub bore needs to be at least 106mm. Which it probably is or maybe its more which will still wok. I learned the other day that chevy avalanche has the same bolt pattern as our trucks, but a smaller hub bore, so some aftermarket wheels have the same bolt pattern and the hub bore is 70 something which will not fit.

    I have black 18x9 XD Monster's with -12 offset. 4.5" BS. 6/139.7

The KMC/XD MFR Part number is 70862. :D

Hope that helps, I do have a 6" lift so not sure how -12 offset will work for those with less of a lift.

EDIT -- For price reference I paid $189 shipped per wheel from discounttiredirect.com. Terra Grapplers are also cheaper there + free shipping as well.

I have 17x9 XDs and 285x70x17 Trail Grapplers and I had rub on the front plastic flap on the front bumper. You can see the small flap in the photo. It was an easy two bolt removal but made an awful sound when it rubbed on a minor turn. I still will have a slight rub on the front mud flap if I turn the wheel all the way - i will need to shave slightly. I have a 3" lift and I couldn't imagine you making any kind of a turn without a lift and those tires.
