or you can do what I did, if there's enough of a gap between your tailgate, I made a mount from 1/8 flatbar that comes out from there, so with a 5' firestick I ended up with 2-1/2 ft. above the roofline. It's an option for you.

LOL.... yeah, that was my reaction about that whole thing exactly :eek::eek:... however, I've tried and tried and tried to get a decent ground with this Firestik and I'm about to just drill a hole in the damn roof, I just hate the look and not being able to remove it conveniently whenever I might need to.

No need to mess with it after that and the Wilson's are suppose to be real good. Linwood and Jandrews appear to like theirs

I'm running an NGP firestik mounted on my bed. Seems to work fine.

Wilson definitely has the best rated antenna, and a majority of the truckers use them. My thing is, we occasionally go to events downtown which involves going in a parking garage, and my wife parks in a garage at work and sometimes uses the truck when her car gets serviced, those are times I would not want a roof antenna. If I lived more rural, it would probably never be a problem. I'm not sure how other guys living in the city deal with it.

Lol, what you see in the photo is the bottom part of the antenna coming right out of the magnet, it's just not showing you the whole antenna.

That fat part just below the whip doesn't disconnect from the whip though does it ? I thought that was all one piece. Can't imagine it transmitting much without the whip, but maybe it does :notsure:

    Here's a good pic

    LOL... sorry Matt

Well, I hate to draw conclusions without too many facts, but it was a single car accident and damage like that doesn't occur much under 75mph
