Just a few little things. It's my DD
Today on my way home had a girl run right in the back of me at a stop light(I was stopped at red) at first I didn't think it was too bad just bumper. But then my friend noticed my bed is about a 1/2 closer to the cab on drivers side. She hit more in the driver side and the bumper didn't even hit the bed or anything. That's why I thought nothing of it. She had insure and we did police report so I'm good on that end.

    So my questions?

1- hopefully my bed slid? But bumper didn't hit bed and I think she went more underneath my truck. I looked but did see any thing, but a small bent would be hard to see. I hope not my frame.

2- my brand new truck- she has geico- has anyone got depreciated value from them? Sucks my new truck already going to have bad carfax!

    Thanks!

I feel your pain. I had to replace my 07 DCSB back in November just 7 months after paying it off. I had a guy that was stopped in the left lane turn into me and hit me square in the wheel.

Best of luck to you. My only suggestion is have the body shop put it on the lift and cover/discuss any damage to the frame and everything they had to do. Also get them to do a thorough inspection of the driveshaft.

    1. Only way to know is to take it to a good collision shop and have them inspect the frame. If you look at the IIHS Tacoma crash test videos in slow-mo, the impact shockwaves causes the frame to vibrate. So it is possible for the bed to slide forward without the bumper touching it. It's easy enough for a shop to check - just loosen the six bed bolts and see if the bed can be adjusted.

    2. For a new Tacoma, bent frame doesn't necessarily mean the vehicle is totaled. Frame replacement is a real possibility.

    3. Was the girl good looking? :D

Bummer bud , hopes it back to tip top shape after your done .

I'm thinking of buying one of those tow hitch steps , bet it would help in really low speed accidents .

    Are those hood pins?

I guess when your topped out a 95 MPH in that sweet ride you don't want to take any chances that your hood will fly open! Silly ricers!

Nope. Cab or bed didn't. I think it ok just not sure how the bed gap changed. As long as it just slid forward a little I'm good with that easy fix, but I don't think the bed got hit. Just bumper? Bumper doesn't look like it hit the bed ether. So we see.

Ouch ! Definitely go and get a medical checkup and get plenty of pics as I hope you did. I went through much the same thing with my 06 Tacoma but I was very fortunate that when I was hit the person went under my bumper with most of the force and I only had minimal structural dammage and it did not affect my bed's position. Yes, You are entitled to extra money due to being involved in an accident but I did not get all that much myself. It depends on the amount of dammage and what it will cost to fix it. It only cost around $2000.00 to fix mine and I was able to get new toyota parts for mine. Make sure you take it to several body shops and get several estimates.

No no sue. It does happen I'm just grateful she had insurance. A lot of people in Kentucky don't have it.

Nah. I was joking. Someone asked if she was hot; he said "no"; I then said "sue her dumb ass" An admittedly weak attempt at humor on my part.

I'd even recommend contacting your own ins. company to let them know.
If you don't let your company know & Geico throws a low ball offer at you it is too late to go back to your company to ask for help.

Its like getting convicted guilty and then saying wait let me get a lawyer.
