I'm looking at getting a set of 59" Vantec bars for the cap to carry my kayaks. Is there any way to carry both of them by strapping them both to the bars?

The bars are very basic and the feet have to be mounted directly onto the cap without a track type system. I don't want to go with the gutters. I just want bars and a way to get my kaks about 50 miles one way a couple times per week starting in June.

Is there a better way? Anyone strap two of them down without the saddles? I don't want to sink a lot of coin into this, but want to safely get them there.

Also, I wouldn't be opposed to having a large basket permanently on my cap if it can hold two yaks.
    Thanks!

I use ratcheting straps to haul my 17' canoe around upside down with no issues - just make sure you use quality straps!

Prior to purchasing my Tacoma, I owned a Chevy ZR2 with a Leer Topper. I had Leer install a Yakima roof rack system at their factory and then bought some T-bars called Yakima Stackers. That allowed me to easily transport 2 kayaks and 4 in a pinch. See attached photos...

Not sure if this will work...but thought I'd mention it.

    Yakima Bow Down racks.

They fold down when not in use. When folded down, the SUV fits in the garage.
I'm sure Yakima has something that'll work.
