Haha OK. I like em both the same. OP, it all depends on your application. What and where will you be riding? Get whatever you feel most comfortable on.
If you're just going to cruise around. Get a quad or a side by side.

i actually have all the gear listed except the chest guard.

i also second the work boots, i have never tried a pair of mx boots but my work boots are super comfortable, and i'm always wearing them, so i get a extra minute of riding.

I think 95 taco is right. It's easier to ride a quad. But it takes skill to ride a quad and be good...

Basically sums it up. Most people who are out riding dirt bikes are serious about riding, they take their equipment seriously and take their safety seriously. MOST people that ride quads just go out and fuck around, do stupid shit in the parking lot, dont give a concern for safety gear like boots helmets and riding gear because they have the "saftey" of four wheels, and when they venture out on trails they have no clue what the trail etiquette is. Not this is not all quads riders, but it is 90% of them.

You say that now, but once you start to learn to ride either of them respective you will get better and become more daring and start tying harder and potentially more dangerous stuff. The first time your tires leave the ground you will see how much fun flying is and you will want to do it again and again, and guess what, its a whole lot easier and safer to jump a dirt bike than a quad.

The work boots are fine if your quad has nerf bars & webbing, to keep your feet out of the rear tires. Otherwise, full mx boots are a good idea...

i have the webbing on my 400, the 250 is stock foot pegs, but it's only ridden around the house anyway.
    the webbing is awesome.

I rode a bike for 10 years before I got a quad, so I am inexperienced too? Actually, I read somewhere that riding a quad for awhile can sharpen your stability and skills to ride a bike...Either or, I enjoy riding both and when finances approve, I will add a bike to my garage next to my quad, mainly because I miss singletrack, that is the most amazing riding there is bar none!

No, but the majority of quad riders out here ( at the dunes) tend to have never been on anything like a quad ( dirtbike 3 wheeler or quad) and they act like idiots on them.
