Has anyone had issues with the 4wheel drive switch not wanting to move BACK to 4H from 2H? Almost like it was electronically locked. With the key off the switch turns freely between 2H and 4H and back but while driving or even stopping with the key on it doesnot. I just keep on trying and the switch will eventually turn. I have never experisneced this before and have owned the truck since new

    thanks

Thanks TCMA 7. If you even slightly push in on the switch it locks up going from 4H to 2H. The only time I use 4 wheel drive is in the snow (central VA so not much)

I may look at replacing just in case, Anyone have the directions for removing the 4wheel drive switch? I am sure there are hidden snap locks.

Take something like a thin butter knife and stick it in the top between the switch housing and the air vent and gently pry it out. The whole switch assembly will pop out. Just be careful not to scratch things up if that's something your worried about. Here is a photo.

Thanks moon death..there is always an angle to take when working on something in the dash to get it out. I was not sure if it was the top or botom or possible the whole area by the air vent. looking at the multiple posts looks like replacing this switch happens on occassion.

Door ding I have a Harbour Frieght store close...for 6 bucks why not

    thanks
