I can hardly think of a worse selection to chose from. :facepalm:Dos Equis amber would be my choice from that list, not the green bottle swill.

Well, you see, I like a beer to complement my meal or just be refreshing on a hot day. I have ordered some of your Colorado Coors Light when there were no Mexican craft brews (all born from German brew masters over 100 years ago). XX (Dos Equis) was named for the 20th Century (XX) being developed in the 1890's. I prefer Pacifico, as it has more flavor... but not as strong or overwhelming as many dark beers are. I did have a XX Amber with my dinner, and it was fine... just not the usually beer I go to for refreshment.

Surely you were joking about Mexican "craft brews". That would be like saying Budweiser is a craft brewer.

There are really 2 brewery groups in Mexico.

Grupo Modelo is the largest brewer with 63% share and they make Corona, Pacifico, Victoria, and of course Modelo among others.

Essentially the rest of the beer......Sol, Tecate, Dos Equis, Bohemia and Carta Blanca are all made by Heineken.

They all do a good job of making beer that is as close to water as they can make. What they made in the 1890s is nothing like what you are drinking today.

Some of the most highly marketed beer though. Marketing works obviously.

They were 'crafted' for Mexico's breweries by German brew-masters... hence, they are really German style beers, made in Mexico. There are dark beers as well, such as Negro Modelo... and Noche Bueno (available around Christmas 'Noche Bueno'). Bohemia is a popular heavier beer in Mexico (and here). I just prefer a lighter brew... and in the desert, more refreshing to me. Tecate Light, XX and Pacifico are three we can always find in Baja... Regular Tecate is perhaps the most popular (and is made in Baja). Tijuana has a craft brews developed by a Czech brew-master. See Tijuana Beer, online. Mexicali Beer is also good, now made in Tecate, but harder to find.

One beer I do not like well, and that is Corona... too me the Budweiser of Mexican beers with an after-taste.... Marketing more than taste has made it the #1 beer exported... too bad really, because if that's all you know of Mexican beers, then you would be correct in you distaste for them.

Multi national beer companies may have purchased part or all of Mexican breweries, but that doesn't mean they are made somewhere else now.
