You can tune your CB but you'll be the only one on it. Do you have a race radio? By friends do you mean friends in your truck or friends in other vehicles?

Since we have such a big group going we should keep to route that we've been on.

The Fall run is in September. I'm already planning the fall run and it's going to be another good one which might include a river.

Some of us have these handheld ones if you want to look into it.
you just have to remove a diode and you will get the channel that Johnnie listed.

I can't recommend a race radio enough. There are times when we are miles apart from each other and it makes communication so much easier.

Good radio for keeping the convoy together (I have one) but they don't work for shit with an anthill in your way. If you want to invest in a 2M radio I would just spring for a mounted antenna and in-car radio to save headaches, especially if you get separated from the group at all (or fall back a couple hundred yards and behind a turn or something)

    just my .02

I might have my CB mounted as well, not positive though, to run relays

I second this. Get a Kenwood 271 or 281 and mod it for the Race frequencies. It's hands down better than the hand held you are going to end up replacing anyway.

Like when Chris and I got separated from the group. We would have been screwed if we had a Short range CB.

I just read the post on the last page. I just renembered that. Was pretty crazy when we got separated! I just remeber both groups headed to the base of a mountain a couple miles ahead.

I'm thinking I may join you guys for this, got room for an expo rig? I figure its always good to have a 4x4 with a winch near by, anyways it will be a good start to the wheeling season. It's been years since I've done Mojave Rd.

For those looking for inexpensive comms, try the link below, its a cheap handheld that functions outside the 2m freqs without modifying it, you get the software free just get the cable to program it. I don't have one but some buddy's have had good results with them!

Hey Jose. We definitely have room for you. Us prerunners can always use a 4x4 in the crew.

I'll add you to the list. if you decide you cant make it let me know.
