Epoxy for Garage Floor

I used to do this as a service. Done like 5 custom homes, 4 track homes, and a 5,000 sq ft shop. Tomorrow when I have some more time I'll go through the thread and answer any questions.

Just bought mine, dark gray with red and silver flakes. Going to do next weekend.

 

I will second the to hard to clean with a caution, the smooth floors and vinyl covered extension cords are BAD JU JU doesn't matter if the floor is wet or dry. I "skated" about 4 feet stepping on one in a hanger a buddy of mine skated and went down smashed his elbow pretty bad. We got rid of those cords and a few air lines that were slick coated too just a warning.

We did it in one of the mechanic shops at work and after about a year, most of it has worn away due to the constant dragging of snap-on roll around boxes in and out of the shop. Those guys are actually redoing it this weekend, I'm thinking it is a common issue as in one of our less mechanic-intensive shops, it got tore up pretty quick just from the roll around office chairs with plastic wheels in front of each computer workstation.

 

I bought a house August of last year and painted the garage floor and put the flakes down. However, the property manager of our rental came out of nowhere stating that if we didn't move out by a certain day then we would have to pay that months rent so we moved that next day. Due to that situation I was not able to put the clear epoxy sealant down to give it that nice glossy finish. Now the floor is scuffed with black marks from tires and from working in the garage. Anyone know what I should use to clean it and prep it for the sealant?

 

I did the Rustoleum Pro grade epoxy on my garage floor.

The slab was brand new, had been barely walked on and never driven on. I let it cure for a time (I forget the time, but I consulted Rustoleum on it) and then added the epoxy. I beat it up, I live on a dirt road so there is always sand/gravel that drips off the truck in the winter, I have done a burnout or two with my atv on it, and my kids are constantly riding their bikes inside the garage and dragging marks with their rear tires in there.

It's holding up well.

Pro-tip!

I added some playground sand to the epoxy when I mixed it. I made sure the stuff was super dry and added a few cups of the clean/dry sand to the mix before I rolled it out. Gave it a little more texture so it's not as slippery.
