My speedometer gauge lights have been flickering on and off for the past few weeks. Bumps in the road or tapping it doesn't seem to have an affect on the flickering. It seems really random.

Would that be an LED going bad? I was under the impression LEDs last a long time. Its just the MPH lights, the needle is fine. All other gauge lights are fine

Jerez had the similar issue and had bad cell in his battery.

Mines where doing the same and I know for a fact my LEDs are good since I swapped them a couple months ago :spy:

Then my headlights started flickering and it was the battery. Bad cell

I did this a couple years back http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/6...-orange-red-yuck-how-change-gauge-colors.html

I don't think the solder connections are coming loose otherwise, they would flicker when i would tap the gauges. That is weird a bad cell in a battery would target specific parts of an electronic component, let alone a single component at all

Actually a bad solder connection won't necessarily flicker if you where to tap on the dash it self...if you're going over bumps and it's flickering then now that you mention the swap, it's going to be 1 led that loose

I'm saying going over bumps doesn't affect it. I can just be sitting still in my truck with the engine off and it flickers.

It may be a bad led...sometimes they don't last long.

Ok, I guess I can start there. Do you think a bad connection on the plug into the cluster would cause it? The LEDs are cheap and it was fairly easy to do. Maybe its time for a color change :D

It may be possible, but then you'd probably have other stuff not working...

I've actually swapped an led on a stock 2011 that was over warranty and it was a bad led which hadn't been touch since the company that makes the boards installed the compnents

good to know. I'm going to order some new LEDs then. I need to think of a good color scheme. Right now I have all white background with stock red needles

All the LEDs in the dash run on the same power source into the cluster so its definitely not the wiring. Most likely a bad LED or bad Solder joint.

Welp, I settled on blue. Jerez, is there a way to tell what direction the LEDs go? I know each one has a little notched corner. When I did this the first time, I soldered them all on and none of them worked so I reversed them from the direction of the stock LEDs and they worked.

This time I installed them the same way I did the white ones (backwards from stock position) and none worked so I reversed them and then they worked (notched corner in same position as stock)

Here is my new setup. I was too frustrated to change the needles.

Those white ones you had originally had probably had a reverse polarity...I've had that happen to me b4 :anonymous: idk wtf companies are doing lol

I don't know how you do so many of these lol. I could hardly keep my hands steady enough to solder them on. Maybe I should have had a beer first to take off the edge

I'm actually swapping one today with that same color scheme

Try doing one hung over as f*** at 8am in Vegas...never doing that again

FACK! Mine is doing the same thing! Any idea which LED's would do this? Seems like it's only the 3 LED's on the Speedo that cut out.... is it one of them? Or another LED from another section of the board???

Really pissed right now.... dealing with this... and my beautifully wrapped arm rests, have decided to let go! Damn truck is falling apart!
