There are lots of helpful threads in T/W about painting yer wheels. I paid a guy at work to paint my steel wheels black. He washed the wheels. Roughed up the existing paint with steel wool, removed the weights then masked off the tires. He sprayed three coats of NAPA 7220 self etching primer (both sides) then three coats of NAPA 7244 Toyota Trim semi-gloss black. He used a professional paint gun but members have had good results with can paint too.
I would not paint the factory alloy wheels myself, because I like the way they look in silver, but that's me. My photo gallery has pictures of the painted wheels before I installed XD Series Enduros.
    Good luck.
