You can pick up a Venza LE Awd for under $30K, and they have a lot of back seat room.

So, we drove the new Rav and I have to say we really like it. The back seats have and enormous amount of space compared to the taco and other small SUVs. we will be losing some cargo area compared to the truck but not too much and we may end up using the roof rack if need be.

So we are looking at the 13 XLE AWD. Sticker is 28301, selling price out the door 28401. offered me 27K for my tacoma on trade in which seems to be good as I bought it for about 28K.

I think we may have to work on the RAV's price a bit but I think we will be pulling the trigger very soon.

When toyota actually redesigns this truck, we may purchase it at a later date when It's time for me a new vehicle.

I'm going to have some items up for sale if the deal goes through!

The RAV4 seats are set with more than enough room for passenger and driver. I'm about 5'11'' and had more than enough room in the RAV.

In the taco was a different story.... Driver side wasn't too bad with the forward facing seat behind me. It wasn't the most comfortable seating position to drive in but I could make it work and the little guy could deal with it. The passenger seat was another story. You do not have the amount of knee room as you have in the drivers seat. My knee, with the rear facing seat behind, would be about 2 inches from the dash. This is with the seat touching the car seat and as far back as I can go.

I'm not too sure about the CVT tranny and I don't like how they are already selling 2014s. Plus, I really do not know a lot about Subaru's.

We need to take a look at these but I think they will be a bit outta my price range and I'm really not a fan of the looks.

Thought about it and considered it. While it may have more cargo room there seems to be the same if not more room in the rav4. I like the extra MPG of the RAV and we really wouldn't use the 4runner in the way it was intended, just like our tacoma.

I'd go with the CRV over the Rav.

    Really?

I drove both and found the CRV had more road noise. The control layouts and functionality was more difficult in the honda. I hate those arm rest in and the rear pillars.

The crv had more rear passenger width space and the rear seat fold down action is way better than the rav4. I also liked that the cargo area being recessed into the floor about 2 inches.

The CRV drove nice around town and turned with ease. It felt really nice and laid back.

Overall we like the RAV better than the CRV.

I thought the same but the tacoma rear seats are still in the "compact segment" IMO.

I'm almost breaking even from the price I paid for the truck almost a year ago:p. It's nice having a good dealer around.

Anyone know of anybody with a 13 RAV4 or heard any problems with them? I know pre 13 RAV owners loved theirs and those who have traded to the new one seem to like it that much more.

We were in the market for a new car to replace the wife's 98 ford escort. We are working on having our first kid so with that thought in mind we started looking at a family friendly small SUV.

We test drove and looked at pretty much every small SUV. We even drove the CRV over to the toyota dealer so we could compare the CRV & RAV4 side by side (The dirty looks we got from the toyota salesmen were priceless)

While the RAV4 definatly had a larger back seat, and a bit more room upfront, she picked the CRV as she said it was just the most comfortable for her (she's 5'6"). Since she pulls her seat so far forward to drive, there is pleanty of room in the back seat for a car seat. We also weren't a big fan of the interior styling of the new RAV4.

I was looking at the RAV and drove a few. I was working on a out of town deal (everything was a 4x4 up here and I only wanted FWD), when the wife and I stopped by Honda after church on Sunday - we took the CRV home a few hours later.

The CRV is a bit louder, but felt much better. Both are remodeled since we bought ours, but I'd buy another CRV in a minute if something happened to it.

Same setup here, RAV4 for the wife and Tacoma for myself. Wouldn't trade either one of them for anything different.

You'll like the RAV for it's interior room. My wife has a '12 and the rear seat room is impressive. Also...the difference in MPG will be very apparent. Congrats.

    Thanks man!

So far we are really enjoying it. The tacoma had a bit softer ride but I'm not missing the crazy tacoma tranny one bit!
we got 34.3 MPG on the highway last night doing are 65!!! super impressed so far.

One day I will get a tocama back in the driveway. Maybe the redesign model when it finally comes out.

Congrats on the RAV 4, nice vehicle and on paper almost exact specs to the CR-V (which we went with).
The rear facing seat dilemma is a common one, but remember its only for a short time. Once they are turned around, then in booster seats and finally on the seat itself, there is lots of room.
I am only 5'9" but can totally see how taller people find it unbearable.
Don't you just love kids? haha

We looked at the Rav4 and CRV when we were looking for a car for the wife (and 2 kids under 3). They were both nice, however, we ended up with a Subaru Outback, as it had more cargo, better MPG, more ground clearance, and from what I've seen, a superior AWD system. All cost about the same, so it was a no-brainer choice for us.

But all were nice, and much appreciated for the wife who hated lifting up the kids to buckle them in with our old SUV.
