'08 with 77k paid $19k everything is really clean on it basically looks new.

Anyway this is my first truck (finally!) and I'm looking to do my first mod / upgrade. I want to start simple and cheap, I dont know a lot about vehicles but I'm learning as much as I can as I read more and more.

So anyway the first thing I think I want to do is paint my rims black, or a dark metallic anyway.

Does anyone have any pictures of stock rims painted black / metallic? I'm just not sure how its going to look on red.

Also what kind of durability can I expect? I don't want to be touching them up every week.

Plasti dip the wheels. They hold up pretty good. As long as you clean them very well before dipping. Then I would match paint the grill. (Satoshi)

Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
I tried posting pics on here but my phone is being retarded. Check out some of the pics on my profile for some paint mod ideas. Wheels, cd player, lower valance. I made my bed extender also which has come in pretty handy. Bed lights is another good mod. There is a cheap/free mod thread on here for more ideas.

My favorite mod was putting the lights behind the 4x4 switch.
The most useful mod was the bed liner and undercover and tailgate lock.
The one Im happiest with/ get the most compliments about is the satoshi grill and black headlights.

Thanks guys, I think the first thing I want to do is put a bull bar on, and mount some lights on it.

Anyone have any suggestions for a bull bar? (budget oriented)

I don't have a whole lot of extra cash so I'm looking for something simple. cheap, but effective.

    Welcome, OP!

Given that money is tight, maybe set up a budget that prioritizes must-haves (insurance, fuel, oil changes, routine maintenance, etc) and nice-to-haves (armor, lockers, bull-bars, etc). Then spend some time with your truck to see what you want to do with it. Throwing money at low-budget accessories that probably won't last long will only serve to frustrate you and empty your wallet.

For stuff that costs little to nothing, there is a section on this board dedicated to thos little projects.

Thanks for the advice, I think I want to at least start with dipping the rims and maybe dipping the chrome on the grill.

Does anyone know roughly how many cans of plasti dip I'll need for my rims?
