A true tragedy! Moore OK has been hit 3 times in 14 years! My prayers go out to them.

Just drove through there last month. Bad thing is... it's coming my direction right now as we speak. I might be busy tomorrow on duty.

My heart and thoughts go out to all those affected. Unbelievable footage for those that haven't seen it. It's all over YouTube.

Very sad! Those pictures just seem unreal. I can't imagine seeing a tornado coming at me.

I'm in VA, and we get complasent and think we won't get hit by such a bad tornado. But, there was an F5 tornado in La Palta MD a few years back.

A few years ago we had a tornado hit literally two house's down from us in our neighborhood. My wife looked out the window and said "what the hell is that?" I looked out and it was moving right across the street from my house. I grabbed my daughter out of bed and we got in a closet. I figured out real quick that there is no where in our house to get that is safe. Our house has a real "open" floor plan with 15' ceilings so it is basically a "balloon" if one of the windows were to blow out.

Ordered this the very next day.

It is half inch plate steel that is held down to the foundation with 16 Hilti Bolts that expand as you tighten them. It is rated for a F-5 which I hope I never have to find out if it will actually do it.
We have our safe and 2 hard drives with all our pictures and passwords in it just in case.

The door is secured with two 3/4 inch slide locks along with the standard door lock and probably weighs 250-300lbs.

$3500 installed tax included and then FEMA gives you back $1000 (or at least they did. Not sure if they still do). It is 5'x5' and big enough for Me, my wife, and daughter. I have a computer mount in it so I can watch the T.V. coverage when we get in it. Everything in my house is on battery back up and I have a Slingbox hooked up to one of my receivers so I can watch T.V. on my computer. We also have our small safe with all our important paperwork in it and 2 hard drives with all of our pictures on them and our passwords to all our sites to pay bills etc. I update them about every month with new pictures to stay current. I'm OCD that way lol.

You sound like me. I pretty much have every model and serial number I could find in my house recorded in case anything gets stolen in a burglary or is destroyed in a fire. I also have pictures of every room so the insurance company can write me a nice check. I keep it in a folder in my email so I can access it anywhere. Better safe than sorry.

I guess after I have seen so many people lose everything they own to fire, storms, etc... I have become pretty OCD about keeping up with everything. The pictures are what matter most to me. Those are irreplaceable, the rest I can figure out. But the thousands of pictures that I have of my daughters first 8 years.... I couldn't bare to lose those.
