    Yep ^ if nothing else it just wastes gas and tires.

    When you make a sharp turn the outside rear wheel has to go faster in order to make an arc in 4 wheel drive it wants to turn the inside front wheel as fast as the outside rear that is what you feel it is the front tire slipping on the pavement.

    Seems we both misunderstood the risks. The following explosion took place when a person attempted to turn tightly out of their driveway in a new Tacoma with 4WD engaged. The last thing the neighbors heard was him reving the engine attempting to overcome the bind:
