Using apple maps. Also have tomtom app, but you can use your fingers to zoom on apple maps.
With the Bluetooth link to the 2013 factory radio I get to listen to my music, get GPS voice overs, and hands free all at once

May be an overkill, but I use a Galaxy Tab2 10.1. Using Ram mounts, it can be mounted in cup holders or on the windshield.

I use Garmin on my Head unit Kenwood 5140. works great, but sometimes it does send me on a out of the way route.

Yeah, those are the old school things. I actually still always have a map in my glove box of all of the states that I frequent, as well as a US atlas that is under the seat. All the tech in the world will do you no good if there is a glitch, or is the truck dies and there is no power to a GPS. Maps have never failed me.

I actually use a laptop in my truck (though I am not a 2nd gen, this thread peeked my interest) with a similar mounting system that I built. I have recently inherited a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 like yours. What App did you download for that?

I searched for GPS TOPO Maps in the Apps store and got the "Canada Topo Maps Pro", "US Topo Maps Pro" is also available. You can find free apps and some you pay for. Some of the free Topo apps are only good with wifi reception. Also some of the free are for trial purpose.

The Galaxy Tab 2 has a built in GPS (Satelite). Quite a few apps are available for the USA, try a free App and if the maps and applications are good then buy it at $6 to $10.00 per Apps.

I had a similar set up when I had my Ipad. The only issue I had was it still moved around too much and that drove me crazy. When I mount something I want it to be completely solid and this just wasn't. I did love the idea of having a large map screen though and that is why I did it in the first place. Just wish it would have worked out the way I wanted.

I do agree with you on having a solid mount. I use mine mostly on logging and fire roads, so fare so good. I still have two years on my Taco lease (will buy if it serves me good), so I usually don't abuse my Taco. (Yet)

Yeah, you do want it solid. My laptop mount was pretty darn solid. Used it when wheeling and everything. Had very little movement. I will have to take a snapshot of it later on.

Is there a setting that I am missing on the Entune nav system that allows you to input a destination while moving? Currently, I can't change the destination unless it is a saved/favorite location. Same goes with making phone calls. You can't access your contact list. I realize Toyota was trying to make people be safe on the road, but it is extremely annoying.
