Bolting a 5th wheel hitch to the plastic bed would last till about the time you pulled out of the drive way. All of the 5th wheel setups are bolted to steel beds. Have a look at your manual and see what they have to say about 5th wheels.

I have had a fifth wheel hitch in my Tacoma for over a year and you don't bolt the hitch to the bed even a steel bed would not hold the hitch is bolted to the frame send me your email if you want some picks I used to use a ford v8 to pull my fifth wheel the Tacoma pulls it way better

OK. Where did you find a frame member under the bed to bolt it too? Mine does not have one where a hitch might fit what did you do about the hitch sitting on the plastic bed take it out? I'm sure you have a much better understanding about how the truck works then Toyota they seem to think it's a bad ideal.

I have seen a thread on this site somewhere about a guy installing a 5th wheel... pretty sure he cut the bed out and made his own frame to mount it on. Looked pretty good.

I think it can be done. If you have a subframe built on the bed of the truck that is mounted through to the truck frame. A slider 5th wheel could be attached to the sub frame. Upgrade your transmission cooler and add a temp gauge.

Even if you could do it, why would you? The experience would be flat out miserable. It's no different than putting a massive lift on a truck, and then needing that truck for constant towing and having to put on a massive drop down hitch to make it work.

A Scamp 19' 5th wheel weighs less than 2,500lbs. A gooseneck trailer tows much better than a bumper pull hands down. Is it a 30'+ 5th? No, not at all, but they do make 5th wheels for midsize trucks. For a couple, they are a decent sized camper.

My buddy and I have designed and built gooseneck ball mounts for several trucks now. The big ball is designed for a huge load and it will couple with both units waaay out of plane. Many bits are available to pin the ball in place and then allow a virtual instant return to an empty haul space. Not a job for rookies though.
