If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
My Leer 100XL can be locked/unlocked and opened from the inside.

Just need to slide the lock-bar over to engage the lock.

I just verified you can do this with snugtop rebel anyway. Locked outside handle first then closed lid. Press red button and turn internal handle to open from inside.

I got my Leer with the auto lock option. It unlocks with the vehicle power lock fob. It also has a manual key lock. So yes you can lock it from inside the box. Just about every new canopy is going to come with the safety release on the inside, just like every truck has.

Thanks - for understanding, Peter. From the maritime Provinces to B.C., its beauty is nothing short of breathtaking ... stunning. REALLY !

Northern B.C., Alberta & Yukon get remote enough to leave me feelin' necked :) without personal security. If a situation got out of hand ... from either the big, brown, furry fellas or the two-legged variety, I felt like one could be in a world of hurt in a hurry. From me discussing security considerations, there is absolutely NO intent to 'badmouth' Canada.

Nevertheless, (unlike many) I respect alternate viewpoints ... and `hoped for the best. This time, I made it back ... safe & sound.

My SnugTop came with that option but I see no reason why you couldn't retrofit it to another shell. If you've got a shell that latches on both sides, take a piece of 1x2 and create a couple of slots that slide over the inside handles.

My LEER 122 can only lock with the factory key from the outside as it was shipped to me. I can latch the two T handles from the inside, which closes and latches the door, but does not lock it.

Couple solutions presented themselves to me as I faced this challenge:
    1) I can affix some sort of latch on the inside that can be actuated manually while in the camper
    2) I can use a cable tied to the cargo tie down point on the truck bed, and loop it over the inside of the T handle latch(s)

I went with option 2 as I did not want to drill any holes in anythings - I try not to drill holes in things if I can avoid. The inside of the latch is a flat rectangular bar with a rounded end. There is nothing for a cable to bite onto here. I wrapped electrical tape around it until it built a small shelf, and made the cable length such that it can slide on but then sits pretty securely in place. This means I won't accidentally kick it off in the middle of the night and jiggling the handle won't pop it off either. Works great! Cost about $6

This gives me the piece of mind that someone won't drunkenly open my gate or whatever on accident if I am at a camp ground or RV lot at a mountain or something like that where we do not know the other people around us. Generally speaking, there should never be a concern with sleeping with the door wide open, I mean why should we be sleeping in terrifying places in our trucks. With that said, we go where adventure takes us, and sometimes those places are lame.
