Pop, Soda, or Coke?

That doesn't really answer the question in the OP then does it

Up here , all types of sweetened carbonated beverages are " pop "

 

Coke

 

So when you want a Root Beer, you say "I'll have a pop. No, not that one, that one... no, not that one, the other one... dammit... the Root Beer"

If I want a root beer , I say I want a root beer , if I want a coke , I say I want a coke , ginger ale , I say ginger ale but all of them are pop

I've lived all over so I've hear pop, coke, and soda.

In the south you say Coke could mean anything.

Out here ya say soda. Which is the same as pop.

It's all the same really you just specify what you want unless you're not specifying and talking in generalities, in which case soda,coke,pop all mean the same thing.

 

Same thing here.

If we want a COLA, we'll say "coke", anything else is specific.
But when someone says "Let's go!"
"Lemme finish my coke"
