Unfortunately, leave in the military doesn't work that way over long weekends. But it is an equitable solution.

Person B is driving 21 Hours, spending time with family and flying back to out-process and deploy to Afgh.

The issue is Person B Rented a Moving Truck for the 5th and has to drop it off in Texas on the 10th after loading driving and unloading then fly back.

Person A is driving 6 hours to go to beach and wants to extend leave to 3 days beyond when they will actually get back from trip.

I think the key reason B will likely get the benefit of the decision is that A altered the days after B set their days.. we will see what the Sup. says tomorrow

Person A is SOL and possibly even an ass if they submitted more time after realizing when the holiday fell or in reaction to when Person B submitted their dates. Even if Person B were not deploying/moving etc this is still a no brainer. I would not lose a minute of sleep over this. It happens all the time in much less critical situations. It's not like Person B is going on a fun filled trip to Yosemite. He is deploying to a shithole and moving. I feel for him and would give him more time if possible.

If i am Person B and get screwed on this, i recommend getting put on probation as apparently that equals time off. C and D, happy 4th of July! They figured out the system.

your supervisor is a dick if he doesnt give it to B 100%.
B picked his dates first, now A wants some of those days.
B is deploying so this more a "need" then a want.
A just wants to dick around.
this should happen regardless of rank.

Where was I trolling? You fellas do have it right though. I don't have a family to support other than my dog haha. I've been at my current job for 4 years.

But seriously people. When it comes down to it, if my boss comes out and says I any have those dates off or whatever, I'll tell him exactly how I feel about it. And I it doesn't work out, I can find a new job.

We do by seniority and get to pick rotations off. Id use this as the perfect opportunity to revamp it. Seniority goes first and so on.

not very practical in the military. if anything, it's customary to take care of the lowest ranking before those higher. but in the army atleast, those deploying have 100% priority.

Yeah that's normally on the low side of people testing at a department for a fire job in CO. The odds suck here.
    True story.
