got my new wheels on today.. Mickey Thompson Classic Locks..

got a free new tire as well since they took a huge chunk out of the sidewall when removing the tire. lol

question is.. hubcaps.. or no hubcaps. im not really diggin em as they are too tall/big and serve no purpose. I think they look better off, but also dont like the bare hub showing, especially the cast iron on the rear.. might prep and paint them or just make a cover of some sort.

    thanks dude!

haha.. yeah.. im in agreement. im looking into having a piece of sheet metal cut to make a simple cover with the same mounting points. just use the MT ones and trace them onto the sheet metal.

but... the paint could be a do-able..

    thanks.. appreciate the input.

    nice avatar BTW :)

Does not having a hub cap allow for debris or water to get into the hub assy?

Can I get an answer as to why the super wide wheel or extreme backspacing is so popular in HI? Im just curious about it. Does it trash your ball joints?

I have family on Oahu and I saw tons of trucks sportin this style when I was visiting them and was curious about it.

if that question was directed at me, i dont have one particular answer for that. but just from my own experience, i came from a pretty "standard" setup according to tacoma world standards. icon 3.5 extended travel coilovers, icon ucas, icon 2.5 rear shock, dakar leaf pack, welds 16x8 4.6 backspace, 285/75/16. dont get me wrong, the truck looked really good, but i guess i like the wide look, just like the majority here :/. i ended up just lifting my truck via drop bracket and upgraded to the icon 6" setup after giving in to the "peer pressure" around me. im not gonna lie, my truck is being turned into a mall crawler and a truck for meetps and car cruises. i have a set of 20x12 welds that im in the process of ordering now. i guess every person has their look that they like and some people like more functionality. my truck is not daily driven and is being set up as such.

I love those wheels! I would try to find a plain black, shallow cap. The Mickey Thompson caps are too big IMO.
