1996 Toyota Tacoma issue - Possible VSV/Evap valve?

I have a 96' Tacoma and there is a clicking sound coming from the driver side firewall. It is coming from what I believe is the purge valve or switching valve(is that the same thing)?

It is pretty loud while driving and is constant unless im really on the gas. Is there something I can do to clean this part?

What is causing this sound and what are my solutions?

mine does the same thing.
for me the fix in down on the list of things to do, but whole suspension replacement is next.

 

Thanks for posting that link. That is something I'd like to fix. The buzz sound I heard prior to the purge valve making the tick tick tick sound. The buzz would happen when the truck was off, it would buzz every so often for a period of time. Then a wk later or so the purge valve got much louder, not normal loud but beyond that. I have not listened for the buzz lately because the tick tick tick has had my attention. It is definitely coming from that small valve part.

Does anyone know how i test this part to see if its bad?

If I replace it does the noise of it go away?

The same ticking noise is happening to mine. Has anyone found out what to replace to get it to stop? The evap VSV area is what I hear clicking.

 

For me, it was this part:



The valve itself seemed fine, but the mount at the bottom has a rubber insulator/isolator with a metal plate that had come loose. With that plate loose the normal ticking sound that the valve makes became much louder.

 

Yeah I can physically feel the ticking/clicking.
