I've read some comments that any large Amount of weight on the bed rails can warp or bend the polymer bed? Is this the case? I am
Wanting to put a rail mounted tool box in the bed. The reason I want rail mounted is to allow the full leangth of the bed to slide plywood and 2x4's in the bed. The other idea I had was to Install a bed cage type deal in the back for the box to rest on. That way there isn't any actual weight on the rails, instead it's trnasfered to the bottom of the bed. Any thoughts on that?

    Build thread coming soon!
The polymer is set in shape as soon as the resin dries during the manufacturing of it. There's no way you can warp it. The rail caps likely will though if the toolbox is really heavy

So no worry about distorting the bed? The box would only be loaded occasionally

We have a steel pipe rack with a couple of ladders on it, plus a cross bed toolbox on an 05 Taco at work, no issues. There was some initial concern about that, but the guy who installed the rack for us said no worries with that type of load. Tool box with occasional cargo/tools in it should not be an issue.

There's a couple of guys on here who have contractor style pipe/ladder racks.

What toolbox are you putting in there, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm doing the same thing. Having one built by Highway Products.

I've built a ladder rack that transfers the weight to the frame at 4 corners.
I,m new to this site so I don't know how to post pictures.
